謀魚蝦也蠔 — Restaurant in New Taipei

A friend went to this restaurant and it looked so good I had to try it too. It's a seafood restaurant that specializes in giant oysters!

We called to make a reservation at 9:30 pm on a Wednesday. At the time we also pre-ordered some oysters and the sashimi platter but the hostess didn't bother writing any of that down when we got to the restaurant. The place is kinda small but can seat big tables and small tables. The decor is nautical themed and kind of fun and strange.

Service wasn't exactly proactive. I had to get up several times to ask for extra wasabi, or leftovers to be packed up. There was plenty of staff but no one really seemed to be watching the dining room or seeing if we needed anything. We ordered:

1. Sashimi platter with huge slices of salmon, 3 large shrimp, 2 scallops and a big oyster $588

2. Spicy snapper soup with lotus root, mixed mushrooms, potato, and bean sprouts $680

3. Oyster platter with 6 big oysters and 2 huge oysters $1180

The sashimi platter would have been a meal in itself for one person. The soup was super flavorful and just the right spice level. The oysters were truly massive. Even their smallest one was at least the size of 4 east coast oysters but was still tasty, briny and sweet.

Free rice and ice cream is a nice touch....

Ordered the smelly toufu fish hotpot, a sushimi and a 4L size oyster w ebico, uni and scallop. The single oyster was huge and cost abt NT 680. The hotpot fish cost abt NT790. I was recommended to this place and it turned out pretty good. We ordered a ribs hotpot and the portion was big even though there wasn’t much meat on the ribs, but the whole cp value on the hotpot was good. Their seafood was also quite fresh and a lot of different varieties. The pricing was also not bad. They’re open til pretty late too so good place to come after a few drinks. I would recommend...
