Do VanWa(在海邊).蘭嶼 — Restaurant in Orchid Island

Location is nice and the food is decent. They sell Mexican food, since this is Lanyu, I don't have high expectations on none Taiwanese food, but the food was definitely passable. I have 2 reasons for the low rating: The waitress seemed totally overloaded, she didn't have time to check on any of the tables, because she was always in a hurry they got our drink order wrong and brought a mango smoothie (which was too watered down) instead of banana pineapple. The table next to us waited 10 minutes until they could pay their bill, even though they were already walking to the bar to not have to wait for the waitress to come to their table. We ordered French fries, a enchilada and a quesadilla. The French fries arrived after we waited 70 minutes and the two main dishes 20 minutes later. For simple dishes like that it's not acceptable to let people wait for one and a half hours (during this time the waiter stopped 0 times at our table to ask if we wanted some more drinks), at least I would have expected from them to mention in the beginning that wait times for food are long.

I would recommend the place if you want a nice place to sit down and have a drink but you don't want to eat or if you bring a lot of time...

Definitely one of the more chill food and drink spots on the island. We had hard time finding places open and not booked up on reservations on most of the island, but this place doesn’t take reservations and it’s easy to show up and hang out for sunset drinks and food.

Mexican fusions and pastas and snacks. Tried the flying fish tacos which wasn’t my taste but was interesting. Wish they had other fish taco options. They few vegetarian options...

Food - while not really authentic Mexican - is surprisingly close to the "real deal" compared to what you otherwise get in Taiwan. Taste is nice and the owners are very friendly, just the opening hours were very inconvenient and did not match the information on Google Maps at all (a common problem in Taiwan).
