Pros:||- Beautiful resort located on stunning property.||- Breakfast and dinner are cooked by the owner of the property, who is a fantastic chef. No menu, he just uses local ingredients that are in season at that time. Everything we had for our two night stay was delicious.||- The chef stops by your table after most courses to explain each dish. Very helpful and a great touch.||- Sustainable, organic meals||- Extremely friendly owner/chef who happens to speak great English.||- Great communication. We got in late after the normal check-in time (around midnight) and the owner waited for us to arrive. He also talked to our cab driver to make sure he had correct directions.||- Beautiful rooms with natural woodwork. ||- Beautiful and private outdoor shower and spa tub (there was also a shower indoors)||- Peaceful and quite. After three weeks in Myanmar and Cambodia this was just what we wanted.||- There is a small river/creek with a couple of waterfalls down by the restaurant. If you open your room windows it is a wonderful sound to fall asleep to.||- Comfortable beds and pillows.||||Cons:||- Absolutely none. I cannot believe the two reviewers who gave negative reviews because it was "too buggy" for their liking. Bugs live outside, deal with them.||- Also, I read some reviews saying dinner was expensive. We didn't think that was the case at all. If anything the dinner was under priced! All of the food was delicious, and dinner is 6-7 courses! ||||If we ever find ourselves back in Taiwan we'll definitely be back. Thanks for a...

Read moreThe resort is located about a 30 minute taxi ride from Shilin station, climbing through the winding and verdant hills. The location is isolated and you're there to enjoy what this boutique resort has to offer: which is quietude in a natural setting. What is so special is that you're still in Taipei and it doesn't take long to get back to the centre of the city.||||What I enjoyed most and the reason why I booked here was the outdoor bath on the balcony, looking out at the peaceful greenery and listening to the sound of the stream below. You have your own private steam room too which is a very unique and most welcomed offering.||||The room itself is spacious, well-designed ... but not incredibly luxurious. Dinner is positioned and priced for fine diners and whilst good, it's not outstanding. Some courses were delicious whilst others didn't hit the mark. Perhaps I've been spoiled by my fine dining experiences in other places. The chef and owner is very friendly and takes the time to explain what he will be serving. I particularly liked the fact that there was no menu. Breakfast (which was included in the room tariff) was not huge but tasty and different from your standard fare.||||The staff were courteous and made an effort to please.||||My visit was in October and the weather was cool, even cold in the evening and early morning.||||If you're looking for a place to enjoy doing nothing, to re-charge your batteries, then this is the place for you. A one night's booking is...
