Hey nerds. If you're going to sun moon lake, plan to eat somewhere else. This place is absolutely terrible and uses frozen food.
Lets start with the good. The food that i ordered arrived at my table quickly.
Now for the sad.
The three cup chicken, which was SO DRY. The meat was clearly frozen multiple times over, deep fried too long, and drenched with sauce. The chicken was so dry it was actually taking moisture out of my mouth while eating it, making me more thirsty. GROSS.
The sliced mountain pig stir fry was worse than the chicken.. it was dry AND tough, almost like chewing on cardboard.
Then the vegetables had no taste AT ALL!!! I don't get why the majority of restaurants in taiwan are afraid of salt. Its like the time i went to ikea in taiwan to get their swedish meatballs, and to my horror, there was NO SALT. I almost cried in disappointment to know that a cow was sacrificed to make such terrible food.
Anyway, as always, I save the best for last. The mapo tofu was not spicy nor did it have numbing spice, which means no sichuan peppercorns or chilis. To make things worse, it was more sweet than it was salty!!! LOL!!! Have you lost your mind? We aren't eating bean flower or dessert, so why does mapo tofu have to be sweet? Please do your customers a favor and just rename the dish "not spicy and not mala but very sweet tofu". What a disgrace to chinese food. What an absolute joke, and only something you would do if you had no idea what you were cooking in the kitchen.
Overall, this is one of the worst taiwanese restaurants ive ever been to. Although I've given poor reviews for the other restaurants in taiwan, their ingredients were at least fresh. But in this restaurant, the food was either seasoned improperly or old/frozen/overcooked... or both. Just think about it. This restaurant is charging you money for food that you could probably cook better out of your own freezer, and that is disgusting.
Everyone, please do yourselves a favor and don't support irresponsible businesses that serve frozen food. Its an insult to any type of cuisine and the chef clearly doesn't care about his food quality or his customers.
To the restaurant chef(s): would you pay money for food that i froze from previous days, overcooked it, then served it to you? What an absolute joke. Instead of cooking at a restaurant, try running a boba shop. You can freeze all your ingredients and add as much sugar as you want, and it would make sense.
Thanks all, one love...
Read moreGreat food! Although we came during a slow hour, the food was cooked well and the service was great.
Addendum: Although I gave this place 5 stars during my first visit, I have to say that my second visit with my family was incredibly disappointing. When we came several years ago it was during a slow hour. However, today the restaurant was more busy than last time. We ended up having incredibly slow service with the staff forgetting our ordered items. They also took a long time to provide us with a menu and white rice. It literally took us longer to get white rice than it took for the staff to serve tables that arrived at least 10 minutes after us. Next time, we'll consider another...
Read moreWe had a really nice dinner at this restaurant last night. We ordered stirfry water spinach, mapo tofu, and spring onion omelet. They also gave us a welcome dish, some steamed vegetable with sauce. Everything tasted delicious. The portion was also big. At first, we were wondering if we’d be able to finish eveything. Thankfully, the food was so good that we could...
