The Restaurant @ The Bali Resort Zanzibar — Restaurant in Unguja

My friend and I booked spa services at the Bali Resort and decided to stay for dinner before heading back to our own resort a short distance away. The restaurant, like many on the island, is an open- air dining experience so that you can enjoy the island breeze and beautiful scenery. The ambiance was inviting and the music set the right tone. So, my friend is from Ghana and SUPER picky about everything that he eats. So per usual, he asked the chef for a special order of fried rice- which was not on the menu. So he ordered the chicken with fried rice and I ordered chicken with a salad. The smells coming from the kitchen were divine!!! We could not wait to get our food and I was secretly praying that my picky Ghanaian friend would like everything on his plate. When the food arrived, he took one bite of the rice and I swear I saw a tear drop from his eye!! The picky Ghanaian finally found a meal he loved- so much so that he asked the chef to prepare another portion of the rice!! (And it was amazing!! I was able to get a couple of forkfuls while he wasn’t looking, lol). The chicken was super flavorful and even the salad- not sure what dressing they used -but it had just the right amount of spice!! I also got the brownie and vanilla ice cream for dessert and you could tell that even the dessert was made with love!! I had an amazing dining experience at this restaurant! The grilled fish was cooked to perfection—flaky, flavorful, and beautifully seasoned. The seafood soup was rich and full of fresh seafood, and the pumpkin soup was smooth, comforting, and full of warmth.

The octopus appetizer was a standout—perfectly tender with a delicious charred flavor, paired beautifully with its seasoning and accompaniments. The pasta with prawns was another highlight—perfectly al dente pasta with juicy, well-seasoned prawns in a delicious sauce. And to top it all off, the pistachio ice cream was simply divine—creamy, rich, and bursting with authentic pistachio flavor.

Bali cafe is a relatively new, small and comfortable restaurant on Michamvi Road, about 2 minutes drive away from Le Mersene Beach resort. The prices are quite affordable, the food tastes good, wait time wasn't long at all and the restaurant is clean and well kept. The staff are super-polite and helpful. It's located right beside the road, not too deep off main road thus easy to find.
