Choo choo…. the wheels on the train go round and round. The paddy fields are in their full awesome green this period at the waterlogged flats of Pathum Thani. Located on the far edges of Bangkok is Na Pathum Café. Translated, it means a café at the front of Pathum Thani. This café is a recent addition the lovely northern countryside and had intensified in popularity thanks to the mini train ride. It was a Tuesday late afternoon we were here, straight after school. Apparently, birds of same feather do flock together, literally. Many other parents also brought their kids still dressed in their uniforms. And soon the café was a big chatter of children’s excitement as the golden sundown hours approached. As a typical café, Na Pathum serves an assortment of hot and cold concoctions. Kids oriented, the menu also features chicken nuggets and French Fries which kept my child busy and quiet as I enjoyed the vista of the rustic landscape. For proper meals, they also have a range of dishes such as green curry, Thai salad and Thai favorites on rice. And how can anyone come without taking on that adorable train ride. While it is at least an hour away from mid Bangkok, the transport time was worth it. We had pad thai and a few non-alcoholic beverages. The view from the 2nd floor of the restaurant was mesmerizing: the rice fields and the little train rails. We tested the cute train after eating, 2 times. My kid had a lot of fun there.
