San Rafael Café: Where Stunning Architecture Meets Pricey Pastries
San Rafael Café stuns with its jaw-dropping architecture, featuring sky-high ceilings, wooden curves, and a centerpiece waterfall that screams Instagram-worthy. Inside, you’ll find a 360-degree bar serving everything from fancy coffee to mocktails, paired with picture-perfect pastries. The ambiance is relaxing if you dodge the weekend crowds and their symphony of chatter. While the food and drinks lean pricey—expect THB 140-325 per item—they’re visually stunning and decent in taste.
Pros & Cons: The spacious layout and ample parking are big wins, along with attentive staff and clean facilities. The desserts are a visual treat, though flavors cater more to presentation than indulgence. On the flip side, peak hours turn the café into a noisy playground, and the heat in some areas might make you sweat your coffee out. The price tag? Let’s just say it’s not for the faint of wallet.
Verdict: Come for the aesthetics and stay for the experience—just don’t expect it to be light on your budget. Best enjoyed during off-peak hours for a quieter, more...
Read moreThe café has beautiful architecture, a lovely waterfall feature, and stunning interior design — truly impressive and worth a visit for the atmosphere. However, from my experience, the prices are quite high for the Thai standard of living. Of course, it’s a customer’s choice, but I feel it’s not great value for money considering local wages.
We ordered two coffees and a butterfly pastry. My flat white was good — comparable to what I usually have at home — but the music was extremely loud, which really clashed with the calm and elegant setting. There are charging ports for customers, which is nice, but the loud music ruined the peaceful café experience.
I noticed a group of people trying to have a meeting, but they had to raise their voices over the sound. I was about to order another coffee to enjoy with my pastry, but I simply couldn’t stand the volume anymore. The moment I stepped outside, it felt so peaceful — such a contrast to the noise inside.
Beautiful place, but I wish they would lower the music to match the beauty...
Read moreVery very mixed feelings about this one. The interior is fun and interesting design, so it will please anyone looking for SoMe content. With some wooden cups/nests up on second floor level from where you can look down at the Barista's at work, and the exterior with neatly designed "waterfall" and a small garden area. All interesting to see.
And that is probably the best of it all. I can see they invested in some high quality coffee machines, unfortunately it seems the coffeebeans they use isn't it up to the standard. I would rate the coffee alone 1 to 1,5 star, it's very very bitter, no nice coffee smell or anything. Tiny small papercups, giving the feeling of the coffee you would buy at a gas station, not a premium coffee shop.
Add to that, incredibly slow service 15 minutes wait for a cup of coffee, and at 15.30 ALL cakes and breads were completely sold out - very disappointing.
In short, this is unfortunately a one time "been there, done that" place, I most likely won't visit again. But good...
