An excellent coffee shop to visit for a delicious, ethical, and affordable drink and dessert. The atmosphere of this café is beautiful, and the ambiance has a very pleasant Thai-royal feeling, helping to increase the appreciation visitors have for the work and efforts of the Thai royal family to the people of Thailand via the Royal projects.
The reputation of the café and love for the princess is reflected by the extremely large number of customers (even during off-peak times). As such, there is a reliable queue system in place: Upon arrival in the parking lot, there is a large seating area under a blue-tarp-roof on the left side. Guests must first be seated on this until the 'Round' time commences. A member of staff will come and hand out tickets in order from the front row towards the back (Thai people are very considerate and will usually indicate who was there before them, so don't worry about that). Once you've got your ticket, you may proceed to wait in the entrance area of the café where you will then wait for your number to be called. Once your number is called you can go inside and place your order. One ticket usually allows you to by 2 drinks and 1 dessert, but if there are fewer people then you can buy as many desserts as you like. Once you've placed your order, you'll be given your receipt and will then wait to have your number called out again to pick up your drinks.
The quality of the drinks are without exaggeration amongst the finest I've had in Thailand (seriously)! Furthermore, the staff there are so friendly and I sincerely appreciated how kind and open they were to interact with me as a foreigner, always with a genuine smile.
The inside area is air-conditioned and spacious, with limited seating. People are comfortable and pleasant there and you may end up sharing your table with other friendly guests / customers.
After your drink, you can take a walk to explore the gardens behind the café (mind your step, there are some narrow parts near the water). There was a very friendly member of staff who walked with us, took photos for us, and explained to us what everything was. They have a large variety of vegetables and some fruits growing which they intend to sell in the future for cheap prices. I was especially fascinated to see the herbs growing and large variety of interesting chillies, e.g. purple chillies!
Thank you very much Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn for providing this wonderful...
Read moreIts OK and not much more. First surprise was shoes off at the door. Second surprise you need a ticket for the queue. I visited Tuesday about 9.30am and it was quiet. The size of the car park suggests its really busy at weekends and holidays. Not sure why. Macha latte medium-sized cup was ok and at 70 baht reasonable. I had a blueberry muffin 75 baht.it was large but a little bit stodgy. There is a fairly decent sized menu and bakery available and displayed. The size of the actual service area is quite small considering the car park is so large. Service was quick. Staff seem hard working and probably don't have time to give the friendly personal service other small cafés do. The cafe is under Royal patronage which is possibly why its popular. Message behind everything seems to be about being environmentally friendly. Interior is fairly bland and forgettable. Most of the furniture is cheap cafe style seats and tables. No really interesting parts to the interior decoration. Photos of Her Royal Highness at the rear of the cafe are in a cheap frame along with loose photos stuck to the wall. There are some other photos so high up you might miss them. At the rear is a garden area. Bits are being renovated. There's a pond and some vegetables planted but it all seems half hearted.. Cafe is next to two 5 storey flats so you don't get any privacy as well as a road running up the side.Theres a long mural which is interesting and colourful. Not sure why this area was chosen for the cafe i think if it was a little bit more rural it could get its environmental message across better and customers could have a better experience. If you're in the area pop in but I wouldn't suggest going...
