Mata Cuisine — Restaurant in Chaiyaphum Province

Wow, what a nice place. The food was perfectly prepared, cooked and presented. We had everything from salted crab to rib eye steak. What the rib eye lacked in grade it made up for in prep, cooking, and presentation. Soft shell crab was magnificent. Crisp fresh salads, fresh quality vegetables, meats, and sauces. Very impressive. The drinks were all just as well prepared and presented. The staff was very sweet. And attentive to the needs of our table. Mata should be very proud of their staff, they are the backbone of your fine restaraunt. The price was very reasonable. 2 apps, 4 drinks, 2 sides of vegetables, and 4 entree's was only 1,900 baht. And very generous portions. You will not leave hungry. And try to leave room for their amazing desert. Atmosphere was very nice, subdued, but not dark. Light easy listening music in the background. Not loud at all. I will return and everyone who sat at my table said the same thing. If you have not been, you really should go. It is affordable and well worth it. UPDATE (10/21/2023): Unfortunately, our 7th time at Mata and the steaks are still not up to par. It's sad because the flavor is there, but when a chef has to cook a steak that is about 1/4 of an inch (.6 cm) thick to blue rare or rare, it is impossible. I really wish that we at least had the option of a thicker 1 inch( 2.5 cm) USDA Prime Grade A beef. Unfortunately, what the chef is forced to serve is around U.S. Commercial grade, lacks marbling, and is tough and chewy. Don't have to be Waygu. That is just over priced and few are willing to pay for it. The other dissapoint was the oil used to fry the oyster omelete tasted old and the omelete was too oily. Now the wasabi/lime pork, fantastic. Salad was good, drinks are reverting to plastic cups and more ice. They are good but it is an indicator. All in all, your service personnell are an asset to Mata. They do exceptional work to satisfy the customer. Please give them superior quality to match the hard work they do. For those reasons Mata has slipped 1 star in my personal observation...

When you have the time you need to stop at this place to have dinner or lunch. Excellent place food is fantastic and the prices are very reasonable. Went there early in the evening so there wasn't a much of a crowd, but I will tell you that if you go there in the late evening you may have to stand around and wait for a table. Seems to be a very popular place in the area, highly recommended by me and other people that I know. Choice of food options are excellent, I'm not sure that they serve drinks but I bet...
