Stayed here for three days last week, and WOW!! - what a great place.
Already well-known for their excellent German and Thai food, the restaurant has apparently expanded into the guest house business and in February, opened six brand-new guestrooms.
Our balcony was large, and opened out on to one of Sap Yai's famous wind farms. What a beautiful view! Having our morning coffee while gazing at gigantic windmills quietly working above the rice, sugar, and tomato fields that carpet this peaceful mountain top set the tone for our entire holiday.
Additionally, they've added a swimming pool. A modest, 10 meters by 5 meters above ground pool, and completely shaded from the sun by a large canopy. If I recall correctly, there is just one table at the pool area at the moment, but given the great scenery it offers (same as the room), I can see the owners quickly expanding this area.
Our room!
Security: biometric keyless entry, motion sensor light at door, combination safe for valuables, and two lockable drawers in the bedroom.
Bathroom: digitally controlled hot water at the shower, tandem normal/rain shower, stainless steel shampoo and body soap dispensers, hot water at the basin faucet*, and a nice vanity light above the basin mirror. First time in maybe a year that I've been able to shave at the sink with hot water. Ah, life's little pleasures. :-)
Bedroom: air-conditioned and separate from the rest of the room. Queen bed, large closet with wood hangers, makeup table, laundry hamper.
Living Area: couch, ottoman (2), coffee table, LED TV (38 inch?), refrigerator, kettle, sink, ceramic bowls/plates, glassware for everything from coffee to wine to water, complimentary coffee set (2) and bottled water (2) each day. And a complete flatware set in a velvet-lined box!
I know this review sounds like an advert for this place, but my missus and I were just so impressed with everything during our stay that to write anything less would be a disservice to the owners and all of their hard work. Their attention to detail seemed endless. Quality of decor, bedding, fixtures, cleanliness. Lights were plentiful throughout: everything from normal ceiling lights to remote controlled, color LED lights. US/EU compatible power outlets were sufficient and included USB charging stations at each night stand in the bedroom. Definitely not what we normally find at the sub-one thousand baht price point, and definitely a DO NOT MISS guest house when visiting the many attractions in the area.
Pro Tip #1: Room #6 is next to the pool area and is the only room with walk-out access from its balcony. Pro Tip#2: The hot water at the bathroom wash basin can be quite hot. Anyone staying with children should be sure to show them how to operate the faucet so that they don't accidentally hurt themselves. Pro Tip#3: The food here is excellent, so our last pro tip would be that when in the restaurant, don't be afraid to use your table bell. In my culture bells are kind of considered obnoxious, but again, the food is excellent and this place can get busy; for example, they had large groups of 20+ for lunch on each of our three days. So while you may think you are the only customers dining and politely sit and wait to be served, you can quickly get forgotten in the mayhem that may be happening in the large-group rooms upstairs.
Use the bell. The owners told us that it's on the table for a reason, and that the...
Read moreHad the opportunity to stay one night at " Touch the Wind" ...... wish i could stay longer.... i be back mid February for sure.
Already the first contact prior booking was there: dropped a few questions and had instant answers. On my early arrival i could directly check in but since i was hungry i decided to have a bite first. The menu looked great and decided to go for snitzel, fries and salad..... i go around Thailand a lot with big bike, taste lot of "western" food but this one beat all..... i learned all freshly made by owner Jorg himself. With full stomach i checked into the room what was spacious, comfortable and had nice view from balcony....needed a shower and here they have the rare possibility to adjust the water temperature by yourself.... also the heater safely outside the shower but still easy to access to adjust temperatures (i started with 43 degrees what was bit too hot)
Just finished and knock on the door; i asked Mickey (co owner with Jorg) if it was possible to get massage since my body needed it after 5 days touring on big bike; he arranged and splendid massage given.
Early evening dinner time; i was tempted to go for the Dutch snack but decided to go for original German bratwurst and again the awesome tasty salad..... just lovely again....
Evening spend time enjoying the atmosphere in the bar/restaurant where some locals came by too. I am not a drinker but like a Gin Tonic so now and then and here they have extended choice of liquor.
The night was perfect: another comfortable shower followed by a great sleep on comfortable mattress in quiet room..... watched a bit movie on my handheld using the free available wifi but soon slept.
I am an early bird so at 06:00 i was outside where Jorg and Mickey were already doing startup.... i had a minor issue on my bike and Jorg supplied me with tools needed.... After breakfast was ready....... another outstanding culinary highlight. Pictures tell more as i could describe.
Unfortunately it was time to say bye bye, but i be back mid February for longer.... i want to go around the direct vicinity a bit more and see some highlights advised by Jorg.
All together it was a great stay; facilities, food and last but not least the kindness of owners and staff. I own a resort myself and know what it takes to please guests; Touch the Wind understand hospitality!!!!!!!
Oh, and next time i will use sauna and pool; just not enough hours in the day to do now.
I can advice everybody to go here; you will not be disappointed....... certainly not with the bill; prices are low and in my opinion could be bit higher.... all my food (3 meals), quite some drinks for myself and others and still bill was way below 1000 thb. Lodging isn't expensive neither....
Look forward to my next visit at...
Read moreSpending one night at Andyâs stunning property in Chaiyaphum was an experience that felt far more luxurious than its humble, hidden location would suggest. From the moment I arrived, it was clear that every corner of this place had been thoughtfully designed, with an unmatched level of attention to detail that you usually only find in the worldâs best boutique hotels.
The room itself was a sanctuary of comfort and style. The bed was dressed in crisp, high-thread-count linen, perfectly ironed and softer than clouds. A selection of pillowsâdifferent firmness levelsâwas neatly arranged, allowing for a truly personalized sleep experience. Even the bedside lamps were curated with warm, ambient lighting that gave the space a serene, calming atmosphere..
The bathroom was equally impressive: plush, oversized towels rolled neatly beside a selection of artisanal toiletries with subtle, natural scents, the kind you usually only find in luxury resorts and lightingâs.
The restaurant on the property was a continuation of this quiet, understated excellence. Each table was set with elegant cutlery and fine glassware that sparkled under soft, golden lighting. The napkins were folded with precision, and fresh flowers in minimalist vases adorned every table. Even the smallest detailsâthe weight of the cutlery, the texture of the plates, the impeccable presentation of the dishesâwere reminiscent of a 5-star dining experience. The food itself was kitchen-to-table, with every bite bursting with freshness and flavor, crafted with the kind of care youâd expect from a high-end chefâs kitchen.
Andy and his friend have truly created something extraordinary hereâa place that marries European precision and Thai warmth in a setting that feels both luxurious and deeply personal. Itâs not just a stay; itâs an experience that lingers long...
