When my family went to the cafe, we were informed that the price was 500B. We found it weird and quite highly priced, especially since we saw a google review that stated the price to be 350B just 1.5 months ago. We raised our concerns to the staff who then informed us that this was a price for foreigners. Given that we took a Grab and spent 30 mins travelling, there we decided to go ahead to not waste any more time. The staff also made an alternative arrangement for us (which I will not specify, as it is their own business decision to do so).
We were given plastic wraps (kind of like shower caps) and were instructed to wrap them over our feet before we could enter. Although later on I saw that this practice was not enforced on all visitors. When inside, the smell (dog fur, urine, poo, cafe drinks) was very overwhelming and took us almost an hour to get used to. Most of the cafe dessert options were not available and you could only select what was on display in the fridge for the day.
There are quite a few dogs, which they categorised into small and large dogs. Though i have seen at least 2 "small" dogs whose size were the same as the large dogs, so I'm not sure what exactly was the selection criteria - perhaps it's the age. Most of the dogs would sleep while we were there, not high energy interactions like we expected. The dog's elbows also had quite serious calluses, especially the bigger dogs.
The dogs would urinate and poop indoors, which I guess means that they are not properly toilet trained. The staff would simply come along with a mop and wipe at the urine until it's "gone" - no they do not use a pail to wash the mop and clean the area again, the mop was simply used to soak up the urine and that was it. We saw one dog's urine had a mixture of blood, but the staff was not concerned and just mopped it away (no there were no other blood stains, so I doubt the dog was menstruating). The plastic socks would break, and depending on which staff you ask, they may not provide you with a new one, so you would be in contact with a urine-filled floor. Plus, the dogs would sometimes pee on you too, so that's an added bonus.
All in all, it wasn't worth the time and money, which could be better spent elsewhere. Post-visit, a quick search online showed that it was a norm to practice dual pricing in Thailand, but as a tourist, I am not comfortable with this practice in a private-owned profit-driven cafe. Not...
Read moreI personally found this place very charming. I'm a huge animal lover, and I'm not sure if it was the time of day we went or what (we got there right when it opened), but all the dogs seemed very happy and energetic. It is a pretty small space for the pups, but they didn't seem to mind and they all looked healthy and well fed. They do go to the bathroom on the concrete floor - very similar to the set up at a doggy daycare in the USA - but the attentive staff was very quick to clean it up each time the dogs relieved themselves. The staff also seemed to genuinely care for the pups, cuddling and playing with them. I never once saw a staff member roughly handle one of the dogs as other reviews of these cafes mention. They all treated them as if the dogs were their own. The smell at first can be a bit overwhelming (again, smells like a doggy daycare), but after about 10 minutes you get used to it. Drinks are around 200 baht but for a good coffee and getting to cuddle and play with dogs, that...
Read moreDo not recommend. Went there this morning without planning beforehand and without any expectations. The only good thing was the butter beer I ordered -- it was included in the 250 THB entrance fee and was the only value for money. We left after about 15 minutes -- just the time to finish my drink -- after seeing the nine dogs (including two enormous Huskies/Malamutes and two Labs) moving around in the same 20m² room. They were sensibly nervous, and two of them peed all over the floor where you're supposed to sit down and have a cuddle with them. Afterwards one of them climbed on one of the sitting benches with its urine-drenched paws. Management tried their best to clean up after them, but there were still visible traces. Better spend your...
