My love for Nam Ngiao began here at this very restaurant. After the steep hike through the pilgrimage trail to visit Wat Phra That Doi Suthep, I was tired, sweaty from the heat, and I just wanted to eat something light but substantial. I decided today was the day to try Nam Ngiao for the first time. Here, they advertised this dish as ขนมจีนน้ำเงี้ยว (Rice Noodle with Northern Thài Curry Sauce).
As soon as aunty brought my bowl out and I had my first taste, I loved it. The broth was tangy, tasty and mildly spicy. The rice noodle alongside the pork meat on bone were comforting, and the congealed blood cubes gave it a nice texture and slight sour taste. The side of pickled mustard and bean sprouts went straight into my bowl, they were not sides to me…I believed everything should be eaten all together immediately. I was there until my bowl was absolutely empty, and not a drop of broth left.
