An unbelievable find and a must visit. For years, I have been searching for a cafe with great coffee, spectacular view, and at reasonable price. If I am lucky, I’ll get 2 out of 3, but never all 3, until I’ve found this place.
And it has all the other unexpected elements to make it so wonderful and unique too.
Firstly, it is sort of a hidden cafe. Barely noticeable sign off the main road. You’ll also have to drive through about 500m of dirt road and follow the twist and turn to get to the open area of the cafe.
It is situated by the Mae Ping river so you’ll get a good view of the flowing river. A definitely nice place to chill and enjoy your coffee.
But that is not all this place has to offer. You are having coffee at a “dog house”, so you will be greeted by a pack of dogs, some friendly, some are not, but you can also buy some food to feed them and take pictures with them.
And there’s more. By the river, there are two elephants you can feed bananas to too. So you are helping a small elephant sanctuary near by.
Then there’s the coffee. One word: sublime. Just unbelievably fragrant, deep and smooth, and just tasty. And it only costs 70 THB (~US$2) for either hot or iced drink that is just unbeatable. Definitely one of the best coffee places in Thailand.
A don’t miss, must come...
Read moreGreat spot just off the main road, down a short unpaved road. Nice cafe by the river with plentiful food and drinks offerings at a reasonable price. Found the quality better than many reviews suggest. Fairly busy when we arrived so getting a good table outside with a view took a minute. Can buy bunches of bananas at the cafe to feed the elephants. The elephants were already by the cafe being fed when we arrived, and they don't seem to wander far. Its actually a nice setting for enjoying the elephants in nature with the river behind. Lots of dogs of all sizes around the cafe. Good stopover on the way to Chiang Dao, right on the junction to the sticky waterfall if...

We were referred to Elely cafe by a friend so we made an afternoon of it. But as soon as we arrived with my two dogs (joined by a lead and on a main lead) we were met by many (as much as 6) dogs that were barking and growling at my dogs.. they, as a pack started to bite and claw until the owners of the cafe took them away..
There were no warning signs, nothing to suggest there were danger to other dogs..
I’ve seen other posts suggesting dog friendly, but, if you are bringing your dog, call ahead or check before...
