This is a very unique classic restaurant strongly blended with culture and the bare love for wood crafting techniques unselfishly displayed from their seatings furnitures to the long kept old time wooden tools, and to our spectacular gasp is their determined direction to spread the historical of their past by putting up a shrine on top of the spread of many buildings. This is by far the most memorable eatery place I came across, seen them having put in so much of effort to boost the cultural past of their ancestors, most probably coming from China long long time ago settling down in this piece of earth, and the best part of this family is their descendants dutifully keeping their ancient tradition on going by keeping this building in perfect shape, and open free for all the visitors, how wonderful is this. All the best wishes to them so that they may florish and will be blessed as life goes on, hope they will get...
Read moreFirst visit to this excellent Lana style all wooden restaurant which is a bit outside the city. You will need some form of transportation ideally (motorbike is just fine). Their menu is quite extensive and they have things I have not seen in other « usual » Lana restaurants closer to the centre of town. Hard for me to recommend if you do not know Lana cuisine, but you cannot go wrong. Ask the waiting staff, they can recommend. Each dish was absolutely delicious. The best option would be to come in a group of 3+ people, so you can try more things. Each dish comes with its appropriate accompanying vegetables and there is a « herbs and vegetable bar » where you can take as much as you want to accompany your dishes, as many dishes (esp. nam prik) are eaten by scooping up with the vegetables. Will go back as soon as I can. Downpoints: out of city center for tourists... Close at 17h00!...
Read moreCame to this restaurant on the way back from Nan so was really looking forward to it after the long drive. Lots of good reviews so was expecting something special and called ahead to make sure our arrival at 330 (they close at 4) wouldn’t be a problem. Service was fine but then we were the only customers but the food was the real letdown. Nothing was particularly fresh so they probably cook at the beginning of the day meaning we got the leftovers and even the flavors were underwhelming. The experience was made worse by loads of flies which they did apologize for. Apparently it’s not a problem when the restaurant is full but as we were the only diners we got their undivided attention! Maybe the experience would have been different if we came at midday but I won’t be going back...
