Often the first impression of a person, a restaurant or another thing turns out to be correct. The restaurant “September Brasserie” certainly belongs to this category and confirms the saying. First, the owner is a very nice, warm, and attentive person. We felt immediately welcomed and super comfortable, well above any normal standards.
Secondly, the place itself is a hidden gem. Set up as a kind of patio with a small pond in the middle and nice decorations everywhere, the well-being continues. We started thinking of having found a very nice, special place, and we were right.
The menu is quite comprehensive, some meals have an interesting touch, and the service was impeccable. Everything what we ordered tasted good and fresh - obviously the experienced Farang chef knows one or two things about cooking. All in all, the food was way better than average, 7 or 8 points out of 10 should be a fair rating.
However, there is still room for improvement here. The seats and benches are super hard and have no backrest. Over time, we started to feel more and more pain. 60 or 70 minutes later, we finished our meal, relieved, and happy to be able to get up from our seats. It's a shame that the evening wasn't a pure pleasure after all. It reminded me of another saying: where there is a lot of light, there is also a...
Read moreI had a roast, which is only served on Sundays, I believe. If I remember correctly, my roast pork dinner (no lamb today, I was informed) was B260, but unfortunately the meat was still pink - pork should always be well cooked. This detracted from an otherwise very tasty meal - which could have been the best I've had in Chiangmai, even without apple sauce (pretty much impossible to get anything better here than Makro's poor attempt) and with a Yorkshire pudding. Perhaps it was the dollop of savoury mustard that made it so enjoyable... I had a large glass of Brewdog's pleasant, though perhaps a little sweet for my taste, Punk IPA to wash it down but was shocked to see it had cost me B350 when it came time to pay - no prices were visible. The restaurant itself is fairly attractive but lacks adequate seating arrangements for family and larger groups, having a disproportionately large, not-particularly-attractive, water feature taking up a lot of space. One of our party took advantage and sat in it to cool down - and there was room for a dozen more! I doubt I'll be going back as there is nothing to tempt me enough to go so far out of my way, even living on the same side of the...
Read moreAfter two and half years on the road, we know that when we really crave for pizza, there are times that we will be disappointed. We did our due diligence and dud our research and September Brasserie had very good reviews for their pizza. To us it was a complete disappointment. The pizza at first sight, looks very good, thin crust and a nice outer crust (thanks to the wood fire oven cooking) but: it had way too much mozzarella cheese on it (and not of the best quality!) and the cheese was undercooked. the bottom of the pizza (especialky in the center) was gluey (probably due to the fact that their oven was not hot enough) and it could not support the weight of the cheese. the pizza is large but because of the above, I only ate the outer part where there was less cheese and where the crust was more edible. At 300 baht for a simple margherita pizza we found it very expensive when you can have the same pizza, in the old town at 40% less than...
