This is nice looking barn style cafe lovated in a serene area of San Kampaeng District, about 40 minutes drive from Chiang Mai metro area.
The cafe is in a beautiful estate where they grow their own cocoa, coffee avocado, macadamia and more. The place is maintained well, clean and it has good vibes with plenty of outdoor seating.
There is also a private (the owner's) small exhibition hall for classic cars (with 20 Bahts entry fees).
What’s interesting about this place is they offer chocolate production and coffee workshops at the farm too.
The staffs is very welcoming and give good information regarding the chocolate and the drinks. We like that they offer chocolate tasting here and we ended up buying their 78% dark chocolate with rosemary and cherry tomato, which was lovely.
Although we did notice that their dark chocolate don’t taste as dark as what we have experienced at many other places that make good quality chocolate.
This was true with the 78% Wake Me Up Baby Hot Chocolate drink that we ordered too. Like a few other reviews mentioned, that you could taste the milk much more than the taste of dark chocolate in it and the drink was quite creamy. In fact, this drink tasted more like it was made from chocolate with intensity about 50%.
We also tried their Chocolate Crystal (Brownie — Hazenut —Mousse) dessert, it wasn’t bad but a bit too sweet.
The medium roast iced - latte was good though, better than the other 2 things we ordered.
The ambience inside the cafe could be better if it was brighter or maybe with opened windows. But we do understand why they kept their windows closed since the cafe is air conditioned. You can refer to some of the photos of the inside of the cafe that we shared here to see that it wasn’t really well lit and we didn’t do any post edit of the photos.
Since we haven’t tried any of their meals, we won’t be able to comment on this part.
Overall, it was a mixed feeling regarding our experience with the drinks and dessert we tried. Otherwise, this place has lovely outdoor vibes and could be a good quick stop on the way to...
Read moreWe booked the chocolate bar making experience. The price was 1,100 baht per person. We arrived half an hour earlier than the booking time, so we went into the café and order a chocolate drinks each and a salad and roasted potatoes. The price of the meals are seeming to be very high for Chiang Mai, however after we tried them, they blew our mind and amazed us. The salad was very fresh paired perfectly with the vinaigrette dressing and honeyed cacao nibs. The toasted potatoes are not like anything I’ve ever tried before. They’re smoky salty and umami that I can’t stop eating them. The food are totally worth the price in my opinion. As it’s our time for the booked experience, the guide was very friendly and kind. We get a tour of their cocoa farm and taste theunprocessed chocolate bean, fresh from the tree. Then she show and demonstrate the process of making chocolate and we learned a lot and get to try some of the process. After that, she teaches us how to temper the chocolate and pipe the chocolate into the mold. After finishing the process, she let us try various types of chocolate that they have. Then they gave us a small souvenir bags with goodies and the chocolate bar that we made earlier. Overall, a very fun and educational. Totally would bring a...
Read moreThe #agricultural #diversity in #Thailand is truly remarkable. The abundance of nature's beauty that we can experience here is unparalleled. From cacao trees to coffee, vinyards, tea, fruits and vegetables, all freshly provided by nature and bursting with flavor, these are things we often take for granted in Singapore unless we pay an exorbitant amount of money for a quality that is still inferior to what Thailand offers. To be candid, I myself have become desensitized to these simple pleasures of life. Just a year ago, my children believed that fruits originated from the supermarket. Now, I have the extraordinary opportunity to provide my offspring with a real-life experience, showcasing the true origins of these products, how they are cultivated, harvested, and transformed into extraordinary creations by passionate artisans. Perhaps this is the way we need to #educate our youth on the importance of #environmental...
