I went there originally when I was visiting the black temple. For the closeness from the place this place should attract more people. As everyone said, food there is freshly prepared with many veg and herbs from their own garden/farm, in particular sticky rice from the owners farm. You can see the fish swimming in the pond. No MSG which the owners daughter Gan insists on to their family and staff. She really has the forward thinking for real “farm to table” concept. They will ask you for any allergy and the spicy ness you want. While you wait for your food, you can walk around the garden and see the veg and herbs growing in a very informal manner.
After lunch, I signed up for the cooking class as I wanted to know how to cook things that are not normally offered in other cooking schools. I took a very well organized but standard cooking class in Chiang Mai before. Since she offers class in between lunch and dinner time and it was just me, I knew I could do something special. She messaged me the menu from the restaurant in advance so I can chose my 3 dishes. I chose dry Tom yum noodle and she let me use 3 different types of noodles so I can compare the taste. Also I brought a special mushroom I saw at the market and we made a soup out of that as an addition. After a little rest and going to the garden to pick the actual herbs and veg, we made special northern pork Laab salad. It was traditionally eaten raw. When I said I want to try it raw, her father was very pleased (since he likes it that way) and he started to teach me. So we made 2 versions, one raw, one cooked. The portion was so large that I would have never finished it alone but she said not to worry. We also made fish tamarind soup with Konshintzai (空芯菜). By the time we finished, it was already dinner time and since there were no other customers, her husband and her parents joined for dinner bringing fresh bamboo shoots, fried fish, sticky rice and home made liquor! I really felt a part of the family by that time and really thank their generosity and friendship. This was one of the best part of my trip!
Even if you are not doing the cooking class, I highly recommend going there to eat, especially if you appreciate organic,...

We stumbled upon Green View Restaurant completely by accident after visiting the Black House (Baan Dam Museum), and honestly, it was the most serendipitous discovery of our trip to Chiang Rai!
From the moment we stepped in, we were welcomed like family. This charming, family-run place is run by an amazing group of women who pour love into every single detail—especially the food! Every dish was incredibly fresh—like garden-to-table fresh—and bursting with authentic Northern Thai flavor. You could literally taste the care in every bite.
Our entire family had the most amazing time here. The setting is peaceful, lush, and beautifully relaxing, making it a perfect break from the tourist crowds. What touched us even more was the genuine warmth and hospitality of the owners. They truly made us feel like honored guests in their home.
One of the other reviews said it best: “Put this place at the top of your Chiang Rai agenda”—and we couldn’t agree more. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience.
If you’re anywhere near the Black House, don’t miss this gem. It’s not flashy or touristy—just honest, delicious food in the most heartfelt setting imaginable.
Thank you, Green View, for one of the best meals (and memories)...
