MATYS Pattaya — Restaurant in Chon Buri Province

We ate here during a 3 week holiday in Pattaya. It was a Friday night and apart from another two diners, we were the only customers. Two of us ordered the duck confit with sautéed garlic and parsley potatoes. The duck came without the potatoes. When we asked the waiting staff about this they told us that we hadn’t ordered potatoes. I asked for the menu and pointed out that potatoes were part of the dish. They said that they would bring them. More than 10 minutes later, duck getting cold, no potatoes. I went to the kitchen hatch to see what the problem was. The chef was only just opening a bag of frozen shop bought potatoes. The rest of the kitchen staff were almost asleep in their chairs. By now, I had given up. Everyone else in our party had finished their meals. We asked to speak to the manager as we were reluctant to pay for the two duck dishes. He said that he would have to speak to owner. Eventually he said that he would make the decision himself and not charge us for the two non meals. The restaurant closes at 10.00 and tables that had been laid for prospective diners were being cleared well before this and staff were driving away as we waited for our taxi. Almost reaching 😍 perfection… MATYS is a hidden gem in the suburbs of Pattaya 🇹🇭 that is worth your stop.

I have tried the restaurant both day and night, and my recommendation would be lunch. The restaurant is a 🌳 nature spot itself that the day light reveals completely. The little river 🌊 running below the scene completes a perfect vegetal 🌴 atmosphere.

The service is trained and paying attention👍, from your arrival to you checking the bill and leaving the premises. The 🤵 staff itself with its typical elegant French attire is another unique piece of creativity. There is no waiting time either for the table or the 🥗 food. Once ordered, the dishes come at your table in a reasonable time ⏰.

The menu is rich of ideas 💭 and suggestions, but a big effort was put in providing high-end dishes. On the pictures, I took the New Zealand 🥩 lamb and the 🐟 fish of the day, both great choices. The restaurant has a strong selection of 🇫🇷 French wines.

It is surely a place I will visit again. I will around but not next door unfortunately. I am gladly putting that restaurant on my ⬆️ top list of fining dining places of...

A disappointing experience, low standard of food.

Such a shame as you can see the owner has put a huge amount of thought and work into this place.

Food served was substandard to say the keast, so much so that we didn't finish the start and didn't bother to order a main. We checked bill and left.

The tuna tartae was not at all fresh, you can see the colour of the tuna in the photo.

The bread was not cooked, dough still uncooked in the middle of the baguette, also the baguette served seemed be previously used as the end was missing and some parts were toasted as you can see in the photo.

Hope for the sake of the owner that this is addressed and food standard is improved. Expected much better than this, the hardware is of a high standard, shame about...
