SEA SALT Bang Phra — Restaurant in Chon Buri Province

This restaurant is quite strange. It’s a mostly open-air seafood restaurant within a 4* hotel / condo complex. They have two very nice air-con rooms but one has to be fully booked for private functions and the other is only open during the day time (when there are literally no customers) but at 5pm it closes because they don’t have enough staff! Unbelievable really, we sat outside the first night we went on a Sunday and it was about 70% full. Problem is there are no fans so if the weather is not yet ideal you sit and literally melt in heat, even worse if it’s humid too. Whether it’s different Friday / Saturday I don’t know but having sat dripping in the heat on the first night we decided to choose another restaurant that has enough staff and customers to justify turning on the air con!

Service outside is acceptable but very slow and they use this annoying “scan bar code to order” system which would be ok if it wasn’t so slow!

Food was OK but nothing special. Some dishes like the Larb Moo Tawt were neither spicy or sour and the Tawt Man Goong were very good but lacked any seasoning.

Overall it’s OK for a one-off experience if the weather is good and it’s not uncomfortable to sit outside but sadly the choice of air-conditioning seating is not there because, as a staff member told us, not enough staff. Our solution, choose another restaurant, there are plenty to...

This is a hidden gem not too far off from Bangkok for a nice sunset watch by the sea.

Distance from Bangkok - on a good day with no traffic will take about one hour and fifteen minutes. So not too far if you are craving some sun and ocean breeze.

The atmosphere is very relaxing. There’s a bunch of tables on the beach, and as well as by the patio area. Would go for closer to the ocean as possible for a nice sunset watch. However, any other seats are fine. Recommend to make a reservation before you go to get the best seats and go a bit early to secure the spot.

After 6PM live band will start playing, which makes the place more lively with music, less ocean sound!

The service Is good, there’s staff everywhere and they are quite attentive. They are working around the tables which is quite nice.

The food menu is quite large - Thai, Japanese, and Italian/Western. Their popular dishes are the pork knuckles, Lobsters (live in the tank, not frozen!), and as well as their fondue which looks a bit skeptical :)

The drinks are good - lots of juices and beer selections, and alcohol. However I wouldn’t go for the wines as local places never have good wine selections.

Parking is no issue, plenty of parking here!

We are very regular customers .. both ordering for pick-up as well as dine-in and certainly love the beautiful setup .. But today felt disappointed by their customer service We had sent message via Messenger for prior reservation but no one cared to read it .. So we walked in, and were told that all the tables were full and we had to get a Queue number and wait .. Queue was 10 .. Since it is not a fast food restaurant, the guests do not leave quickly, so we requested that we will walk around and when our Queue number calls, can they call us .. we were bluntly told that they cannot call, they will announce the number and if we are not around, they will cancel our queue .. For prior reservation message, they replied that they accept prior reservation only on weekdays, not on weekends . A counter intuitive logic, beyond our understanding..
