Old Time Café — Restaurant in Chumphon Province

Great vibe, live music, yummy chicken wings, and sashimi.

Edited review: We had stayed in Chumphon for over a week and visited Old Time several times during our stay. On our final night, we celebrated with food/drinks. Unfortunately, several dishes were not tasteful. The yellow curry with fish was not fresh at all, and unfortunately, one of us had gotten sick that night. As well the saucy chicken wings were definitely disappointing, as we typically ordered the dry rubbed crispy wings and thought of changing it up. That was a bad idea!. The calamari definitely did not taste good at all. Although the last night was not a great one because of the terrible food, we did cherish our moments when we did enjoy ourselves. We hope the next time we visit Old Time in Chumphon, we will not be disappointed. We also felt the prices were quite high as well in comparison to the surrounding food spots. We came here a year ago and it was great, but tonight made for a disappointing return.

To start, the Hoegaarden wasn’t great, tasted flat or watered down. It might have come from bottles, not sure, but at 290THB a glass it really should be better.

My burger came and wasn’t cooked. I usually eat my steaks and burgers quite rare, but this was a frozen burger so wet and mushy inside.

I sent it back and 15 minutes later the same burger returned that I had pulled apart to check after 1 bite. Yup, the “chef” had taken my bits of burger, cooked them again and packed the bits in the same bread bun, so I got 3/4 of a mashed up burger back. And the (same) fries on the side were now stone cold.

My gf had the Tom Yum noodles and said it was “ok”

To top it off the music was terrible and loud, there was only 4-5 customers on a Tuesday evening at 19:30, so not sure they needed to be...

Food: The food was quite average. I requested no tomato in the burger, but it was replaced with cucumber, which wasn’t listed in the ingredients—a disappointing oversight.

Service: The service left much to be desired. The waiter seemed unorganized and failed to place one of our orders. When asked, he simply mentioned that the kitchen hadn’t prepared it yet, showing a lack of communication and attentiveness.

Atmosphere: The environment was not ideal. The indoor space was overly loud and uncomfortably cold, while the outdoor area was plagued with mosquitos. It seems the venue is more popular for beer and football than for dining.

Overall: Unfortunately, the experience fell short due to the lackluster food, poor service, and uninviting atmosphere. It’s better suited for casual drinks and sports viewing than for a...
