เพลินยามเย็น&เพลินบาร์ — Restaurant in Kanchanaburi Province

We just arrived in this village and decided to have a walk and stop at this bar & restaurant as it had great reviews.

It was about the opening time, we were handed an English menu and the Thai cuisine choices were good, so was the price.

We’re initially very happy thinking we found a fair priced local restaurant.

The portions and the food we ordered were good. Large bottle of beer 80Thb.

All the dishes we ordered were under 100 Baths on the menu card we were given.

Happy as Larry, we asked for our bill and there we got confused!

Even considering a service charge our bill made no sense. For 4 side dishes and 2 beers it came to about 700 Thb.

I politely asked the waiter to see the menu again, double checked the beer price. Then another waiter approached me showing some sort of itemised bill card with marked dishes. There were 2 prices on it. All in Thai only so they could tell me anything… I wouldn’t be able to verify.

Basically to my understanding … we were charged the tourist price.

Not cool! I consider it to be an intentional deception. They said the prices were old but nobody bothered to inform us while they took our order.

Simply misleading and not cool! We’re charged double what we’ve expected. What if we wouldn’t have enough cash on us…?

I won’t return there simply because of a simple principle…, I have zero tolerance for this sort of service. The price you show should be the price you charge...

It's really a wonderful place in such a sleepy town. The drinks are awesome and tasty and there is great music and above all the place looks like a ferrytail. And...

Great food and lovely host. I'm sure he popped out for supplies when I asked for a variation of a menu item....
