We were taken here as part of a mangrove tour we arranged ourselves from Krabi pier with a longtailman. We weren't really sure what we were actually doing with the language barrier, but with the aid of Translate, we agreed we would wander Ko Klang and the boatman would wait. We could have lunch if we wanted. After our walk, we called in to the little shop nearby, also seemingly run by the restaurant staff. One of the team was incredibly friendly and spoke very good English. We decided on lunch, but were not sure what to order off the extensive menu, so went with a waiter's suggestion of a friend whole fish, which we then chose with some vegetables and an iced tea. We had no idea of the fish price as it's by weight. Not an issue for us, but some might want to check if budget is an issue. The fish was with a tamarind sauce and incredibly tasty, crispy where it should have been, soft and well cooked where it should have been and with our veg was enough for us. The iced tea was the best we had, very fragrant, fresh and not too sweet. Overall the meal was very reasonably priced and the team made us welcome and we appreciated the English they could share with us. We felt it made our trip to Ko Klang quite authentic and a good antidote from busier more touristy areas, especially as being Friday lunchtime the village was quiet due to the men being at Mosque. The other great thing about the restaurant is that at low tide you can sit and watch all the crabs and mud skippers and crustaceans going about their business on the mud. Kids would love that. This lunch was one of our...
Read moreTo dine at this enchanting restaurant, you have two options: either make a reservation in advance, allowing them to arrange a boat for you, or simply stroll down to the jetty where the staff will gladly assist you in contacting the restaurant to check for availability. The journey itself is a delightful adventure, as the boat glides along the winding mangrove route, providing breathtaking views of lush mangrove trees and the diverse wildlife that calls this ecosystem home. As you emerge from the mangroves, it feels like stepping into a magical storybook.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, you'll be greeted by an impressive selection of live seafood, all freshly caught and prepared to highlight the flavors of authentic Thai cuisine. The menu is a tantalizing medley that exceeds the expectations we had from our experiences back in Malaysia.
The atmosphere of the restaurant is vibrant and welcoming. Our visit was particularly lively as we had seven toddlers in tow, creating a delightful chaos as they joyfully explored their surroundings. The staff were incredibly accommodating, entertaining the little ones with fascinating tiger fish feeding demonstrations and engaging play, allowing the adults to savor the exquisite dishes without worry.
Overall, the experience was well worth every penny spent, leaving us with a sense of gratitude for the remarkable hospitality and unforgettable memories we...
Read moreYou need to get a longtail boat to get here and pay 200 Thb max for a return journey.
Unfortunately this wasn't the restaurant I wanted to come to and it was actually Khlong Seafood but it's a little odd of a set up as when you arrive they docked straight at this restaurant so make sure you're clear on which restaurant you want to visit and ensure the boatman knows that.
The main male server was very unwelcoming. The female servers were friendly enough mid meal and at the end although they got my bill wrong and overcharged me. Post correction as I was leaving they called me back again to say I needed to pay more and I had to explain I didn't eat prawns and had fish (price difference) even though they served me.
At £505 baht for fish and rice, I think this was completely over the top and overpriced. The food didn't agree with me either- most likely to the amount of oil that was used. Visit the village by all means but perhaps take a look at the...
