Malee Seafood — Restaurant in Krabi Province

When I sit in this restaurant I feel that I am in a real piece of Thailand while I am actually in a very touristy part of Phi Phi Don. The hubub of the workers is invigorating and the local staff from surrounding restaurants, hotels and resorts buy their lunches and dinners here (always a good sign!). There is a family feel which we did not find at any other restaurant on Laem Tong. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for genuine Thai food and experiences.

The food is amazing and portions on the larger side. Freshly cooked to order and piping hot on arrival. Really really delicious :) The fried rice and curries are to die for. Lovely iced coffee.

There is also a little convenience shop attached to the restaurant where you can buy all sorts.

We went back to this restaurant many times (for lunch and dinner) and purchased takeaway from this restaurant also.

Cute view on waterfront. We ordered “larb muu” which is minced pork with lime, roasted rice and spices. It came poorly made with cheap cuts of meat used and not minced so you end up chewing connecting tissue and tendons. Fish was another drama- we ordered sea bass deep fried. It came and tasted like murky water. We asked the water what fish this is, then he said that it is white snapper. When we said that it is not true as it is some cheap lake fish, he said yes and didn’t try to fix the situation. Papaya salad was ok though. It’s a pity. I understand that business is tough but trying to save on ingredients just results in people not eating...

We ate at this beautiful beach restaurant for lunch every day. The restaurant is runned by a very friendly family, always a smile on their face. Thai food was amazing at reasonable prices (lot cheaper than at the hotels near by). We tried several dishes from the menu (papaya salad, pad thai, green curry, rice with basil, mango sticky rice...) every dish was unbelievably tasty. They offer fresh coconuts for drinks as well.
