We scootered past this place on the way home from Huay To waterfall and decided to stop in on a whim.
First impression was the atmosphere was great. Really interesting location near a mountain face, cute animals inside - we were introduced to Tom Yam and Barbecue, their pet roosters and I enjoyed the view of the waterfall and koi pond.
I think we were served by the manager who was quite pushy, we had barely sat down and already he was standing over us demanding our drink and food order when we’d barely had a chance to read the menu. He stood next to our table while we decided which is a bit of a pet peeve of ours - it would be nice to have 5 minutes to read the menu alone before having our order taken instead of feeling rushed. It wasn’t a case of it being busy, there was only one other couple in the restaurant with us.
Food was okay. Nothing to write home about but tasty, and a little bit on the pricer side for what you get. We ordered the club sandwich and waterfall beef.
When we went to pay the bill, I gave the man 600baht and our meal cost 575baht. I expected to receive change, which is usually promptly provided here in Thailand but he sent us on our way to play billiards in the next room (which were supposedly free according to him) without this. The whole situation was a bit awkward. I confronted him later and he seemed pretty annoyed that I’d even ask, he didn’t return and sent a waitress to give us our change instead - she was very kind. We finished our game and dipped pretty quickly after this interaction, I think maybe they expected us to stay longer and spend more money but the place was utterly dead. It might’ve been more interesting later with more people and live music so if you plan to go here,...

But one thing did bothered me was that , although I was alone, I had already ordered 2 dish with rice (which is more than enough for 1 pax) they kept recommending a whole fish… I don’t think any normal person could finish the entirely of the meal
After politely rejecting multiple times, they kept insisting that I should get another (pricer) seafood dish like a lobster/ crab and again the fish.
I felt a very uncomfortable with hard selling but ultimately ordered 3 small dishes. I was told that one of my protein choice had ran out. I was immediately recommended another expensive dish and when I asked if there is anything cheaper, the waiter asked me to get the tempura prawns. With quite the hefty price tag on it, I asked if it was freshly made and she lied and said it was, based on the pictures, I could tell that it was frozen and she later admitted that it was fresh from the freezer. I ended up with just the 2 dishes and it was a good thing that they ran out as I couldn’t even finish the 2 dish with my rice.
What I’m trying to say is that, although it normal for waiters to recommend and get customers to order more/pricer items, just doing it once is acceptable. (They went back and forth with it and kept flipping the menu to the pricer page, like 5 times?) I feel like perhaps the waiters have an incentive to sell the higher priced items or more items? I felt uncomfortable as they were quite pushy with it and the fact that they would insist I order more dishes even though they knew that it was already quite a lot of food was...
