Khrua Pu Lon Samut Prakan — Restaurant in Laem Fa Pha Subdistrict Municipality

Last time we were in the area we drove past this Khrua Pu Lon and made a note to give it a try, and here we are almost 2 months later 😁 (Thai Sea food restaurant)

FOOD: very wide ranging menu, good raw and well prepared, rather delicious. Portion size is reasonable-ish 😁. 8./10

SERVICE: when we arrived it was not busy, sone of foods arrived in good time 🤣, the staff was very professional and nice.

Had to chase the last few dishes though. 8/10

FACILITY: huge and very spacious, the restaurant sits upon a small reservoir, on this day the breeze was superb. Decor wise, thatch roof, very common plastic chairs and wooden top tables. Small play area for children, to be mindful of the water though 😁.

No aircon (that I could see), parking is roadside, can be limited. A couple of instragramable props (stairs leading up to nowhere 🤣). 8.5/10

Based on other reviews, we must have been there on a bad day. The service was unenthusiastic even though there were lots of service staff and not many customers.

The food was really disappointing. The dish (ปูหลน-ข้าวตัง) with the restaurant's name (expected it to be a signature dish) had no crab meat but rather the broken bodies of a couple of tiny crabs.

The fried pork neck (น้ำตกคอหมูทอด) was tasty but very little meat and mostly fried crumbs to make it look like a generous serving.

The baked river prawns with glass noodles (กุ้งแม่น้ำอบวุ้นเส้น) had no taste at all and the prawns were cut in half, lengthwise, making the meat very dry.

The little prawns in the sour soup (แกงส้มกุ้งชะอมชุปไข่ทอด) were the best tasting for the meal even though the soup was dull.

Ryukyu fish egg curry is delicious. The restaurant uses very fresh fish eggs. The crab curry is just so-so. But the reason I give it 4 stars is because the fried sea bass with fish sauce is a bit salty. The sauce is only sweet. It's good that there are morning glory to cut the richness. Most importantly, the fish is very fresh. Although the food doesn't come quickly, you don't have to wait very long. Parking in front of the restaurant is convenient. The staff provides good service.
