THIS IS THE BEST THAI RESTAURANT IN PHUKET FOR SURE!!! And you must check their excellent home museum :) I've tried several restaurants, and only their food makes me want to cry... It's the taste of my grandma. Keywords: Instagrammable, lovely food and museum tour, vintage house, good staff, hand-made souvenirs.
I came here around 7 pm. Actually, the museum was already closed. But the staff was super friendly; she let me go in and found me a guide! My guide speaks excellent English; he answered all my questions and showed us the house around. We learned a lot about their family history and why they started to renovate the house. The entrance fee is 100 THB, but it all goes to families and kids that need help. As a private museum, the house itself is well-maintained and VERY INSTAGRAMMABLE, don't hesitate just come inside!!! There's a small souvenir shop on the first floor of the house; you can find hand-made stuff made by kids or villagers from Patani province --- cause of the guide, I just knew why Patani province is so poor and why is it so difficult for people to earn money there :( I learned a lot from the guide (i forgot to ask his name, wanna say thank you again here!) They also have a room for home-stay; the home-stay includes three meals (I don't know about this before. Otherwise, I will try!) The guestroom looks vintage and cute ;)
After the tour, I went to their restaurant, they have many, many interesting dishes, and I have to say, so far, their menu is the BEST in Phuket --- every plate has a proper description and cute collage. Staffs are super friendly, and they recommend me delicious dishes ( I LOVE ALL THE DISHES!!!) They use local Thai ingredients for cooking :) Must try: The Phuket sausage, pineapple juice, pork stew, and crispy noodle! I can't explain how amazed I am, but this is a restaurant that I would like to go back to again for sure! There's also a small souvenir section in the restaurant; you will find CUTE hand-made souvenirs (all reasonable price, and you can help people by buying this!) I strongly recommend you to buy it here. You won't be able to find such a good quality/meaningful and hand-made stuff in any other place in Phuket. Just remember to bring some cash, you can pay for your food by card, but souvenir needs to be paid in cash.
I need to rate my experience here 10 out of 10:) Btw, they have a small black cat wandering around in the garden; this sweet furball will purr to you if you...
Read moreFor full disclosure I am the husband of the woman who left a previous 2 star review, and felt I needed to give my perspective after the owner left (in my opinion) a pseudo apology. First things first, the positives... The restaurant/cafe is beautifully situated and is really stunning at night time when we visited. The food I felt was delicious, when I had a chance to sample it, in between feeding my 1 year boy :) I ordered the Massaman curry and it was probably one of the nicest I've tasted and can easily understand the Michelin rating. Now the negatives... On first entering Bann Ar-Jor I didn't feel welcome. Our party consisted of myself, my wife, my mother and our 3 boys (1, 4, 6). We may have been slightly underdressed and I'm not sure if that was a factor but smiles were not very forthcoming. I've travelled enough and met enough people with different backgrounds/personalities but still didn't feel any sort of warmth from the staff. And that's fine I suppose but the service was non existent - we had to pour our own wine/water and serve our own rice. The food was served to us and that's it. I was trying to give the benefit of the doubt here, and saying "oh it's just a cafe and there's only 2 waiters" and thought it fine until I got the bill and saw the 10% compulsory service fee. I think you can get away with that kind of service in a cafe but you certainly can't when you're charging a service fee. I've given a review of 2 stars as although I really enjoyed the food, I just couldn't recommend it to a friend. Maybe we were unlucky but just wanted to...
Read moreOk so stepping back into the part in 1936 - although it doesn’t seem that far long ago but it was quite long ago!
My friend surprise me by taking me to the museum here and it was a really interesting little tour you donate ฿200 to them for the museum however it goes to helping kids which they do in the local community!
The museum was filled with such antique artifacts that of course we don’t see in today’s technological world is everything is now streamlined and digital!
One of the things that they have is a perfume making shops so you can set up a reservation and bring a few friends and you guys can mix and match your own scent and take it home with you obviously for a cost! They already have three scents made for sale which are super nice , Love 💕 , Lust🦋 , Rich 🤑 - So why not get all three? 😂
It was nice to get back in time I took a lot of photos so please enjoy and when you have a moment to be in Phuket make sure you come and visit because they also have an incredible café and the source all their ingredients from local markets as well as they grow organic themselves!
I had a chance to say hi to the owner my friend Jill and I and well let’s just say you got to visit this place it’s very cute!
