Krua Kampan — Restaurant in Nakhon Ratchasima Province

The restaurant has been well known for its traditional thai receipes and an unique setting of incorporating an antique boat to its main structure.

Visited them for dinner after reading many good reviews and ordered the following dishes:-

-Green Curry With Pork. Its fragrant, creamy, mildly sweet and had a satisfying kick of heat. Pork pieces were tender and soft to bite.

-Clear Tom Yum Seafood Soup had a good blend of sour, spicy and savory notes for its rich broth, and generous ingredients of chewy squids, fish balls, mushrooms and etc.

-Deep Fried Pork With Kaffir Lime Leaves had crispy exterior, tender succulent interior and well seasoned. Garnish of Kaffir Lime Leaves and chopped onions paired well with the pork. However they could have served Thai Sweet Chilli sauce (Nam Chin Kai) with this dish, instead of ordinary Chilli sauce for dipping.

-Stir Sunflower Seedlings with Tofu, consisted of Sunflower sprouts too, was well cooked and retained its mild nutty, earthy flavour as well as its crisp and crunchy texture. The oyster sauce was not over savory and fried tofu paired well.

-Fried Tofu With Fried Garlic and Fried Rice were good in terms of overall texture, but do not have any distinctive flavours though.

Overall, we enjoyed our dinner. Food were good but not really impressive, as most of the dishes that we had ordered were average to me. I decided to visit Krua Kampan after seeing it recommended online, but I have to say, it was one of the worst dining experiences I’ve ever had. The food might have been okay, but the appallingly bad service completely overshadowed everything. I honestly regret wasting my time and money here.

From the moment we stepped in, the staff made it clear we weren’t welcome. Their faces were cold and unfriendly, and they acted like serving us was a chore. When it came to ordering, the attitude was even worse. Instead of being helpful or professional, they were rude, dismissive, and clearly annoyed by even the simplest questions. It was shocking how little effort they put into making customers feel comfortable.

The food was just average—not bad, but certainly not good enough to make up for the terrible service. Honestly, the experience was so frustrating that I couldn’t even enjoy the meal properly. Restaurants are supposed to provide a relaxing and enjoyable atmosphere, but this place made me feel like I was being rushed out the door.

The foods are great but omg the flies are swarming me and the food. We went outside the dining hour so it looks like I'm the only swarm target for the flies. There are more than 5 flies swarming our table, landing on top of our foods and on us. So I just keep trying to swat our hand while eating. The server said it's due to the smell of our food that attracts the flies, but if you realize why there's no preventive measure 😭

Overall good food, bad experience. Maybe I'll do takeout, but will never dine in anymore.

Red Curry Little Snail with Coconut Milk and Betel Leaves (4/5⭐) This is actually my favorite menu. The curry is so savory albeit too spicy for me. But the snail is a bit too tough from what I expected.

Stir Fried Pork Spare Ribs with Homemade Sauce (4/5⭐) The pork is nice and so savory, but again the spiciness kicked in too hard. But eating this with rice is a very good match.
