An exquisite dining experience aboard a luxury railcar — Poirot at InterContinental Khao Yai delivers timeless elegance, impeccable service, and unforgettable flavours.
Stepping into Poirot feels like boarding the famed Orient Express in its golden era — from the vintage chandeliers to the wood-paneled walls and crisp white tablecloths, everything is deliberately refined, sophisticated, and storybook beautiful. Nestled within a meticulously restored train carriage perched over Swan Lake, this restaurant offers not only fine French-inspired cuisine, but also a transportive dining experience like no other in Khao Yai.
The view outside — a tranquil, mirror-like lake dotted with swans and wrapped in lush greenery — only adds to the romance. This is a space made for unhurried dinners, meaningful celebrations, and quiet indulgence.
We began the evening with the Truffle Arancini, a perfectly crisp and creamy amuse-bouche that hinted at the elegance to come. Then came the Crabe Royal, a refreshing and beautifully balanced starter — the sweetness of the crab and mango layered atop creamy guacamole was light, luxurious, and very well-executed.
For mains, the Filet Mignon was the absolute highlight. Cooked medium rare with precision, the Australian wagyu tenderloin was melt-in-your-mouth tender and complemented wonderfully by buttery mashed potatoes and silky red wine jus. We also tried the Steak-Frites, which delivered on both flavor and comfort — juicy wagyu striploin paired with golden wedges, garlic confit, and a subtle touch of sophistication.
The Tarte aux Champignons deserves a special mention. Earthy, rich, and elevated with truffle and caramelized onion, it was a delightful vegetarian option that could easily steal the show on its own.
For dessert, the Orange Crème Brûlée offered a beautiful citrus lift — fragrant and not too sweet, with a chocolate madeleine on the side that was as charming as it was tasty. The Chocolate Fondant was everything you want in a lava cake: warm, indulgent, rich, and elegantly paired with vanilla ice cream.
Service throughout was impeccable — warm, knowledgeable, and discreet. The team upheld the restaurant’s refined tone while making us feel at ease.
With its nostalgic ambiance, carefully curated menu, and serene setting, Poirot is far more than just a hotel restaurant — it's a destination dining experience, perfect for special evenings or romantic getaways. Advance reservations are a must, and the smart casual dress code ensures that the elevated atmosphere is preserved. Truly one of the most memorable meals we’ve had...
Read moreWhile the service was good, the prices are far too high for the quality of food offered. Dinner for 2, with one bottle of the cheapest wine, and dessert was ~10,000 thb. There were 6 entrees on the menu. They were out of 2 of them. We ordered ceviche. The fish was slightly cooked with torch and the smokey flavor was all we could taste. As main dish we ordered beef burgundy and surf & turf. We ordered the beef medium rare (in a french fine dining restaurant, we would expect this to be at least a bit red/bloody) steak came medium done, with only the center slightly red. Overall food quality was Okish, but definitely not worth 10,000 thb or what you would expect in the signature restaurant of the hotel....

Old new world charm of the 1800s Victorian first-class train 🚉 experience dinning. French. Theme of mystery on train and someone Poirot. Rack of lamb is the star here. Second is Beef Burgundy. Excellent mood, great for couples. Not family. Long waiting time. Kids in Africa get to eat faster than here....
