I'm leaving this review having just walked out of the restaurant and I can say, without a doubt, that this has been one of my best dinners of my life.
Walking in from the parking lot, you're first greeted by soft romantic tunes that set the mood for a wonderful experience. The friendly staff greets you out front and walks you through the herb garden to the greenhouse setting of a restaurant, right to your table. The menu is extensive but you cannot, under any circumstances, miss out on the crab curry and bbq ribs, the former a generous serving of fresh flower crab in an exceptional, bright, lemongrass-forward gravy with minced pork and juicy tomatoes, and the latter a tender half-rack of tender, fingerlicking good, pork ribs marinated in Thai spices served with Nam Jim Jaew. Throughout the meal, the waitress was very attentive, refilling my glass with drink and taking away any plates we were finished with. To finish, we were pleasantly surprised with a complimentary plate of fresh sweet Thai mango and a shot of lime soda with syrup.
If we weren't leaving Khao Yai early tomorrow, I'd have been back to try the other items on the menu at my next...
Read moreRabieng-pa Restaurant is a treasure hidden in Khao Yai National Park, it was just magnificent and sooo delicious! Very fresh and healthy food! We love Thai Food, and I can say is the BEST THAI FOOD that we try IN ALL THAILAND, and in the world!!! (And we traveled the world and have been in southern and middle Thailand).
Thai Chef Dah, her husband Ant and nephew “Boss”, leads the restaurant, choosing carefully the herbs, vegetables and fruits they grow in their own garden (by the way the garden has a feeling of paradise - so nice and big that they recieve once in a while the visit of elephants, deers, many birds as the hornbill). The chef Dah literally does magic with the food, creating amazing dishes. We liked so much that we came back all the five days we stayed at Khao Yai. It felt like family. We are vegetarians so she did substitute the meats for mushrom. (you can chooce chicken, pork, beef, praws, etc) We had the best coconut soup with galangal and kafir lemon (amazinggg flavorsss), many delicius currys, beans and rice vermichelis, salads, cashew nuts sauce, murberry smothie, for some example. Resuming: food of the...
Read moreDisappointing. For a place with such great reviews I was expecting a lot better than this. Fairly good menu, grilled pork being a speciality, but not much in the way of curry. The waitress was very nice and advised that the portions are large. This was true – a portion of crab rice was huge. It was very fresh and tasted delicious, but there was quite a lot of shell and bone left in there, which was not pleasant at all. Fried veg was decent enough. Grilled pork was unusually made to order – which was fine, but expectations were high. It did taste very fresh, but was by no means the best I've tasted. The real reason I must give a low rating is the high price is not justified at all. Only the rice was a huge portion, everything else was fairly standard but double the price of elsewhere. Definitely a nice looking little place, but the price is not...
