After being a long time resident and devotee of Chiang Mai, I appreciate the finesse of Lanna culture and its food. It has a complex elegance which is present here that I have not been able to find in the south. Bucking the origins of Khao Soi is the addition of beef on the menu, which is a new fashionable trend in many Thai dishes because Thais have come to believe it makes them grow bigger. Chicken is what Khao Soi is famous for and best suited to, so I stick with the original recipe. The food is great and authentic, the service is very polite and charming, but the great detraction is the incredible number of flies which are so persistent.
