Dripoly is a standalone cafe at the w/commons mall in Pattaya. It's a bit of an Instagram star at the moment. 37 indoor seats, 60 outdoor seats.
Coffee: 7/10. Ordered the Thyme iced coffee, a double espresso and a piccolo latte. Espresso was very good, but had been sat waiting to serve a little too long (crema became thin and it was luke-warm). Thyme iced coffee was pretty, but quite plain tasting. A bit too weak for me. Piccolo was good.
Food: 6/10. Ordered the sous vide pork and the chicken quesadilla. Quesadilla was very good, clean, fresh, not too much cheese and a nice pirikara spiciness. Pork was a bit tasteless and flat.
Service: 2/10. It's quite busy here (about 50 people in the 40 minutes we were here from 11:45am) and only 3 staff, so service is slow. Took 2 requests to get our table wiped down. No love or soul in the service - when coffee was brought to the table we had to ask for the server to take away our finished plates.
Crowd: 100% Thai Instagrammers and their entourage.
Design/ambience: 6/10. Looks way better in photographs than in real life. It's looking a bit tired and worse for the wear. Windows on 4 sides means that there's tonnes of natural daylight and this is why it works for Instagram. Materials and finishes are cheap. Pleasant jazz soundtrack.
Suggestions: Hire a waiter/waitress or two. That way 1 person is on the till, 2 make the coffee, and 1 person serves, cleans and runs the floor. Time for an interior refresh. Doesn't need to change, just needs to look a bit...
Read moreI’m a firm believer that when you treat people well, it does wonders for your business. That being said, I wouldn’t choose to patronize this establishment again.
I planned to sit, have a smoothie, and study for a couple hours. I walked in and went to the register and ordered a smoothie. The gentleman told me they don’t have a card reader.. understandable. I checked my bag and realized I forgot my cash so I couldn’t get the smoothie. I sat down anyway and remembered that I have an app that allows me to pay with the QR code. I went back to the register and attempted to order again with the QR code on his phone, but my app kept saying the QR code wasn’t valid (a first for me.)
I sat back down and turned on my hotspot to study. I knew the wifi would require a purchase which I was unable to do. I was one of 3 people in the establishment. After sitting for 10 minutes he came over and told me I had to go outside because I couldn’t sit for free.
I did not go there with the intention of not making a purchase, and I would expect a little more understanding from a well known...
