Nong Riaw Restaurant is an absolute gem tucked away on this perfect island. From the moment we walked in, we were impressed by its charm and ambiance. This restaurant boasts an extensive menu, wallet-friendly prices, and an unbeatable view that made our dining experience truly memorable.
Upon our first visit, we ordered the steamed fish with lemon and garlic sauce, and it was nothing short of fantastic. The fish was cooked to perfection, and the zesty sauce added a delightful twist to the dish. We also tried the seafood salad, and the freshness of the ingredients was unparalleled. The tiny squid in the salad was exceptionally sweet, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to sourcing top-quality ingredients.
Our initial experience was so delightful that we couldn't resist returning for dinner. This time, we indulged in the Papaya Salad and fried calamari, and both dishes were equally impressive. The flavors were wonderful.
What stood out to us throughout our week on the island was the restaurant's popularity. The steady crowd of diners speaks volumes about the restaurant's reputation for serving excellent food. Despite the bustling atmosphere, we never had trouble finding a table. Of course, the tables with the perfect sea view tended to fill up quickly, but there were plenty of seating options to choose from.
The drink menu was also commendable, offering Large Chang beers at reasonable prices. It's always a plus to enjoy a large cold beer (without the gouging price tag of all the restaurants charging to much for a small beer) while taking in the breathtaking views of the sea.
One aspect that did not go unnoticed was the cleanliness of both the restaurant and the bathrooms. It's clear that the staff takes pride in maintaining a hygienic and inviting environment.
Moreover, the efficiency of the service was impressive. Our food arrived promptly, allowing us to savor every moment of our dining experience without unnecessary delays.
Our visit to Nong Riaw Restaurant was a highlight of our time on the island. The combination of delectable food, stunning views, reasonable prices, and a welcoming atmosphere made it an unforgettable experience. We eagerly anticipate returning to this Nong Riaw before we depart from Koh Larn island. If you're looking for an great dining option with a taste of local flavors and a view to remember, Nong Riaw Restaurant is the place to be.

Read moreNong riaw seafood restaurant is a hidden gem on Koh Larn island, offering the best and freshest Thai seafood dishes. The restaurant is located on Samae beach, which is one of the most beautiful beaches on the island. The restaurant has a simple and rustic appearance, but don’t let that fool you. The food is amazing and the service is friendly and attentive. The menu is very extensive, with a variety of seafood options to choose from. You can have shrimps, squids, scallops, fish, crab, and more, cooked in different ways. You can have them stir-fried with herbs and spices, boiled in a soup with chilis, stewed with a curry paste, or grilled with a sauce. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. The seafood is fresh and succulent, and the flavors are rich and authentic. Some of the dishes that I recommend are: Tom Yum Goong: A spicy and sour soup with shrimps, mushrooms, lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, and lime juice. This soup is a classic Thai dish that will warm you up and tantalize your taste buds. Pla Kapong Neung Manao: A steamed sea bass with a tangy lime and garlic sauce. The fish is tender and moist, and the sauce is refreshing and aromatic. Hoi Shell Pad Cha: Stir-fried scallops with chili, garlic, basil, and peppercorns. The scallops are plump and juicy, and the sauce is spicy and fragrant. Poo Nim Tod Krob: Crispy fried soft-shell crab with a sweet and sour sauce. The crab is crunchy and savory, and the sauce is sweet and tangy.
Only one dish that we don’t like. The seafood platter the big one, they burnt it too dry, like overcooked them.
The restaurant also serves some non-seafood dishes, such as Pad Kaprao Moo Krob (Stir-fried basil with crispy pork belly), which is also delicious. The restaurant has a nice view of the beach and the sea, and you can enjoy the breeze and the sound of the waves while you eat. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy, and the staff are polite and helpful. They don’t speak much English, but they try their best to communicate with you. Nong riaw seafood restaurant is definitely a must-try if you are looking for a great Thai seafood experience on Koh Larn island. It is one of the best restaurants on the island, and you will not regret it....
Read moreGREAT little place for cheap but tasty food. We came here repeatedly during our stay because the food was much cheaper than elsewhere and probably tasted way better too!
If you flick towards the last few pages of the menu, there’s cheaper smaller portion foods (like the pictures I’ve added). The portions are still sufficient for meals if you want to save (we were budgeting). Each cheaper meal we got was between 50-80 baht - depending on the meal and if we got an extra scrambled/fried egg for 10 baht. Great value! There is ice cream available for dessert too.
There’s staff are all lovely also. Their English is slightly limited but it doesn’t matter in my opinion. We were the only tourists every single time we visited, and it was certainly popular with the locals and filled up for dinner.
There’s a series of outside toilets which aren’t the most pleasant, but this is pretty standard if you’re travelling round SE Asia. Better to have the option I think! There is tonnes of parking...
