We were staying at a more expensive ’resort’ hotel up the road, Purana, as we took a little break from our backpacking Thailand journey. The drinks and meals were well above our intended budget at the hotel, so we sought out somewhere more cost conscious. (We’ve also made it our goal to try to do more ‘authentic’ eating, less western influenced.
We found this place as we walked down the road from the hotel. There really isn’t anything to look at per se, but the wooden floors and bamboo ceiling were beautiful and very clean.
The staff were very kind, and ensured we understood what level of spice we were getting into.
We ordered Pad Thai, Prawn Fried Rice, Papaya Salad and Green Curry. All very very delicious and tasted so fresh; we’re fairly certain we saw someone deliver the papaya!
In crunching numbers we think this would’ve cost us over $100 home, and we paid about $20 tonight. We got A TON of food.

Seafood was fresh from the sea and I like the idea that they only buy seafood from local fishermen in the area. Their fishery is a sustainable way to avoid not to consume too much like normal fishery which is rarely see nowadays. There's just a few restaurants in Koh Yao Noi who still keep it this way and this restaurant is one of those.
On top of good food here, the owner and staffs were nice and friendly. They made me feel like home away from home. I asked them to cook less spicy and they did it pretty well, not too spicy, but still tasted delicious.
I'd definitely come back here again if I have a chance to go to...
Read moreAbout the best meal we had on the island! A fellow foodie recommended TaDonDo Seafood. You'll find it right next to Pradu Seafood. Khun Ma (the cook & owner) and her big beautiful smile and also the gentle restaurant cat will welcome you. The squid cooked to perfection, soft and delicate in taste with a hint of spice, the fish wonderfully crisp on the outer and tender and meaty underneath, best of all was the combination of fried garlic unami combined with the caramelised, reduced sticky fish sauce. We are going back today and will return every time we visit. Michelin Guide need to be aware of this charming and modest...
