Looking for a new place to eat, I was happy to have found Khrua Huai Sai through a food blogger’s video clip. Upon arriving, the restaurant was already relatively busy with some people waiting for a queue outside in the parking lot. Luckily, I didn’t have to wait long, as a large group was finishing up by the time I arrived. The menu offers an assortment of items, from their signature loaded crab omelet and oyster omelet to different stir-fries, stews, soups, and fried rice.
There were a lot of staff walking around, so it was relatively easy to flag one of them to order the food. Staff key orders onto their portable tablets, thus the orders are sent directly to the kitchen, resulting in a very swift delivery of food. The first dish to arrive was the oyster omelet, which was packed with considerably large oysters that had been fried with eggs and placed atop some stir-fried mung beans. This was delicious, especially with a little sriracha sauce and some white rice—a great start to the meal. Next came the crab meat pad kra pao, which was a little too spicy for my taste but was packed with large pieces of crab meat. The large pieces of crab meat were also present in the soup and their signature loaded crab omelet, which again, was delicious with some sriracha sauce and hot rice. Next, the crab fried rice was cooked well and flavorful, while the salted egg squid was also well-seasoned. To finish, I ordered some local grass jelly with fresh milk, which was a nice and refreshing end to the meal.

Read moreIf you are on the way to Hua Hin, Thailand. Take this opportunity to make a visit at “Krua Huai Sai” The price is ridiculously affordable for the fresh and huge seafood dishes. The atmosphere is calm but will be quite busy on weekend especially peak hour. From that you can guess how good it is. The place is pretty big, a lot of seats are provided. There is a live music to make the ambience better. The serving is speedy, and the foods are local. The food is flavorful with rich aroma and the rice are free! Definitely a great experience for everyone and you will absolutely be filled up. My recommendation for the dish over there is “Fried Scallops with Garlic”. Lots of scallops and garlic is scented. Alternatively, for those who love massive dish plate, go for “Crab Fried Rice” the rice is full, nearly coming out of the plate itself. Plenty of crab meat that you can see it everywhere on the dish. It can probably serve up to 10 people! On the other hand, those who love to eat squid, try “Steamed squid with lemon” or “Stir squid with salted egg” is also good. Lastly, take a relaxation for the dessert. Pick up “Mango Sticky rice”, the famously known for the combination of its sweetness and the rich of coconut milk. Certainly, the experience will be making you not wanting to go back to your hometown. Although, the location of the restaurant is not next to the seaside, but it will be next to your heart of...

📍 Arrived at 4 PM. No line. Indoor & outdoor seating as wide as a football field. Parking space? Olympic level. Flavor? Let’s talk…
Service 🙃 The “welcome” experience was… non-existent. No menu handed out, no “how many in your party?”, no table prepared. Had to call staff over for everything. The silver lining? Food arrived surprisingly fast – as if they wanted us to leave quickly.
The “Showstoppers” (and not in a good way) 🐟 Deep-fried Sea Bass with Fish Sauce – More bones than Netflix plot twists. Meat scarce. Crunch level: nonexistent. 🦐 Salt-baked Shrimp – Fun-sized shrimp with no sweetness, just a bit of bounce. Waste tract still intact for that “extra texture.” 🍤 Shrimp Cakes – The only hero here. Firm, bouncy, tasty. 🦀 Southern-style Crab Curry with Betel Leaves – Crab chunks were promising, but the curry played it safe… too safe. 🥓 Deep-fried Pork Belly with Fish Sauce – Soft like braised pork. Where’s the crunch? 🌶️ Seafood Dipping Sauce – All lime, no balance. Sour enough to make your cheeks file a complaint.
Verdict Come for the space, stay for the parking. But if you’re expecting warm hospitality and seafood worth its price tag, keep driving.
Tagline: “The parking lot deserves a Michelin star – the service...
