After a good trip to Phraya Nakhon Cave, I was famished for some lunch. A quick Google search led me to Tham Sai Seafood, a beachside restaurant operated by a local family, serving some of the most delectable seafood dishes around!
The restaurant is outdoor-only with some fans to cool visitors. Upon being seated, one of the family members will bring a 3A-size double-sided cardboard menu, which has both Thai and English translations. The menu offers an extensive selection of seafood dishes divided into three main categories: Squids, Fish, and Others, which include pork, chicken, and other shellfish. There is also an additional A4-size laminated menu for a selection of som tums available to complement the variety of seafood dishes.
The food arrives swiftly, and all ingredients are fresh. The squids and fish are still firm to the touch and are very well cooked and seasoned. The squid has been marinated with a sugar mixture before being rinsed and cooked, giving it a sweet initial taste before a salty finish. The deep-fried fish is well cooked and evenly crispy all around. The softshell crab is a little sweet for my taste but is well cooked and crunchy. The fresh prawn som tum is delicious, some of the best I have eaten anywhere, while the black-pepper crabs are packed with heat. They are perfectly delectable and go well with a bowl of steaming hot white rice. To counter the spices and heat, the restaurant also offers a variety of smoothies, drinks, and frappes to cool off.
Overall, it was a nice find from Google Maps, a great little local seafood restaurant with a view. I recommend it to all visitors.
Note: On the side of the restaurant, there are also some local fishermen selling locally caught sun-dried fish and shrimp, so be sure to...
Read moreI don’t normally post reviews for a restaurant but had to for this one. Living in Texas I’ve had my share of seafood from California and Texas. Hands down I thoroughly enjoyed the food along with the ambiance of hearing the ocean. The Crustacean in Beverly Hills was always my go to for crab. For about $55 four of us had fried crab in a curry sauce, Tom Yum shrimp and Tom Yum squid along with crab fried rice, deep fried fish chips, and a new vegetable for me chokram found only in this part of Thailand. $55 gets you one crab in California 😂 Free watermelon for dessert from the wonderful staff. Located right at the entrance to a national park cave, can’t miss it. Please stop in and...
