During this long holiday, I found myself once again in the charming coastal stretch between Hua Hin and Pranburi. And as tradition dictates, I returned to Udom Prochana, a seafood institution that masterfully combines the freshness of the ocean with the warmth of genuine Thai hospitality.

Dishes We Enjoyed • Steamed Blue Swimming Crab (1 kg) – Incredibly fresh, with firm, succulent flesh and natural sweetness. A must-order signature. • Grilled River Prawns (0.5 kg) – Large, meaty prawns grilled to the perfect doneness, retaining their juicy tenderness. • Fried Mackerel with Fish Sauce – A sweet-salty profile with a balanced seasoning, though the crispiness could be improved. • Sizzling Seafood Platter – A harmonious blend of seafood flavors, beautifully seasoned. Highly recommended. • Steamed Mussels in Clay Pot – Slightly smaller in size than expected, but elevated by a vibrant and tangy seafood dipping sauce. • Tom Yum Sea Bass Soup (complimentary) – Fragrant and flavorful, infused with lemongrass and kaffir lime leaves. • Mixed Fruit Platter (complimentary) – A refreshing conclusion to the meal. • Grass Jelly in Brown Sugar Syrup – A delightful free treat for KTC cardholders spending over THB 1,500.

Atmosphere & Service Parking is available but limited. The setting is casual and inviting, with the aroma of freshly cooked seafood drifting through the air. Service is exemplary — from the warm greeting to attentive table service, the staff works seamlessly to ensure every guest feels welcome and well-cared-for.

Verdict Udom Prochana continues to excel in delivering fresh, flavorful seafood paired with attentive service. While some dishes could benefit from a slight tweak in texture, the overall dining experience remains exceptional — a place worth returning to, time and again, for that perfect seaside feast.

Hands down one of my favourite restaurants for local Thai cuisine in the Prak Nam Pran/Hua Hin area. Ideally situated right across from the beautiful beach in Prak Nam Pran, the restaurant is an open concept where you can enjoy the ocean breeze without the need for air conditioning. The restaurant is very large and there are ample staff members who give prompt and courteous service. I have to give an honourable mention to the parking lot attendant who thoroughly impressed me with his dedication to delivering top notch service which includes placing a sun shade on every car that parks in their parking lot. He even said a prayer for my family when we left.

As for the food, We loved every dish we have ordered there. My wife and I live in Hua Hin and if this restaurant was a little closer to us, we would eat here 5 times a week..... It is that good. The pan fried king mackerel is outstanding and is a must try for fish lovers. They also bring you one dish of their choosing with every order, as well as coupon for the fantastic coffee shop next door. Reasonable prices, amazing Thai cuisine, fast courteous service, location across from a beautiful white sandy beach and a complimentary entree.... you will definitely be...

Sonkran 8:30pm dinner with family from Khon Kaen & Krung Thep, twelve of us in all.We pre-ordered some dishes by phone that were served quickly upon arrival, we then ordered 5 or 6 other dishes and they were very good except for the Tom Yum soup ( no flavor ? )They took this off our bill so no problems. While we were finishing dinner one server unplugged the portable fan which we were enjoying. A not so subtle way of saying time to leave.We didn't as we wanted desserts, and stayed to finish the watermelon, pineapple and slushes. Overall a very good experience and they had a full house at 8:30p.m. when we arrived. Good up front parking, clean restrooms too.Update ; spacious well lit and well staffed as always .Make sure you arrive priof to 8:30pm ( 20:30 ) to place food orders . Above Sea Levrl will have already closed so no fruit smoothies, coffeess, desserts, etc. Customarily your will be served watermelon & pineapple at the conclusion...
