BAO WANG เปาหวังข้าวอบหม้อดิน 煲王煲仔飯 — Restaurant in Prawet Subdistrict

Surprisingly awesome.

I've run into the place purely on accident while looking to try something else other than the usuals in the neighborhood.

The location wasn't that easy to find, I've run into them thinking that they were some kind of hotpot/cafe but they are actually a Taiwanese restaurant that offered a good combination of claypot and modern Taiwanese menu (like steak with noodle or fried chicken burger)

Despite having the, honestly, pretty pretentious-looking coffee menu, their food aren't the typical "cafe-food" at all. The dishes are very affordable. More suitable for lunch but I can easily have them for dinner. I ordered rice hotpot with salted-fish pork burger topping. They taste a lot better than I expected, the pot is hot enough to give you a nice rice crust at the bottom and the sauce is very good. It reminds me more of Cantonese style claypot rather than the Taiwanese though.

The drink menu featured some combinations of molecular gastronomy take on tea and coffee which can look intermediating but they are a lot more practical than they look (and also not even that expensive.)

The service is excellent - maybe even a bit too attentive but part of the reason is probably not hat we are the only table at the time. They only take 7 percent VAT with no extra service charge and parking are plenty (to say the least.) Food started at around 180 THB and can go upto 300+ if you ordered something fancy. Drink is around 100-140 for their fancy sciency coffee and tea (50 percent discount if ordered with food by the time I've wrote this)

Quality and price wise, this place is a steal. One of the best restaurants in I've ever tried in this neighborhood. Couldn't recommend enough if you passed...

Secretly awesome restaurant off a tiny soi near the end of Pattanakarn Road. Main menu theme is rice and noodles baked in traditional clay pots. (This is delicious as the rice sticks to the sides of the pot and gets a terrific crispy texture.) Another unique aspect of the restaurant is its extensive menu of science-enhanced beverages. ดูเมนูแล้วว้าวมาก น่าทานทุกอย่างเลยค่ะ เลยสั่งมาชิมทุกแบบ สั่ง สลัดหมูทอด ข้าวอบหมูสับปลาเค็ม บะหมี่สเต็กหมูพริกไทยดำ บะหมี่น้ำซี่โครงหมูนิวออร์ลีนส์ แฮมเบอร์เกอร์หมูซอสเนยถั่ว อาหารทุกอย่างจานใหญ่มาก ราคาแต่ละอย่าง คือดีมาก ถ้าเทียบคุณภาพอาหารและปริมาณอาหาร ถือว่าถูกเลยค่ะ

มาทานหลายครั้งแล้ว รสชาติก็ยังเหมือนเดิม ที่ร้านมีมาตรฐานในการทำอาหารทุกจาน (จากที่ดูเครื่องครัวและวิธีการทำผ่านห้องครัวกระจก) มาทีไรก็รสชาติเหมือนเดิมเป๊ะ ทำให้มั่นใจได้เลยว่าทุกครั้งอาหารจะอร่อยเหมือนเดิม (ไม่เหมือนบางร้าน ที่รสชาติจะขึ้นอยู่กับ chef ในแต่ละวัน)

นอกจากฟินเรื่องอาหารแล้ว เครื่องดื่มก็ทำให้ฟินสุดๆ เช่นกันค่ะ เครื่องดื่มครีเอทีฟมากๆ นอกจากรสชาติจะลงตัวและอร่อยแล้ว ยังได้ความสนุกในการผสมเครื่องดื่มเองในรูปแบบที่ชอบ presentation เครื่องดื่มสวยงามมาก โดยเฉพาะเมนูที่ให้ผสมเอง

สั่งกาแฟโมฮีโต้มา (กาแฟ+มะนาว mint) ชิมกาแฟอย่างเดียวก็ได้รสชาติหนึ่ง ชิมน้ำมะนาวผสมใบ mint ก็ได้รสชาติหนึ่ง เมื่อผสมกาแฟและน้ำมะนาว mint แล้ว รสชาติลงตัวสุดๆ สั่งเครื่องดื่ม 1 อย่างเหมือนได้เครื่องดื่มมา 3 อย่าง สนุกและอร่อยมากๆค่ะเมนูนี้

Waffle มะม่วงนี่ก็ต้องไม่พลาดเลยค่ะ (สั่งทุกครั้ง) ที่ร้านทำแบ่งชิ้นมาให้เลย ที่ดีมากคือหวานน้อย รสชาติละมุนลิ้นมากค่ะ

บรรยากาศร้านโปร่งโล่ง นั่งสบายสุดๆ แถมยังมี painting สวยงามทุกมุม ทำให้ชีวิตสดใส มีชีวิตชีวา relax มากๆ รสชาติอาหารอร่อยกว่าที่ไต้หวันเสียอีก
