Well, this is going to be a very long review. There’s a TLDR below.

We made a reservation by phone, since this is a Michelin 1-star restaurant and because of the COVID-19 situation. We would like to make sure that the restaurant was open.

When we arrived there, a waitress brought us into a room in another building. There was no other customer inside the restaurant as far as we could see.

We were greeted with one of the most unusual menu that we’ve ever seen:

“Don’t expect that the food is going to be fast because staff are always short-handed. Nobody is going to mix alcohol for you. And there will be no discount in any circumstance.” — Okay, fair enough.

There is even a paragraph stating we should not believe in an anonymous reviews as those people are cowards. Please judge them with your own experience. They even threaten to sue you for defamation and bringing incorrect information to the internet according to the recent Thai computer law! — This is really weird but they may have been through a lot, I thought.

After ordering, we were left alone in the room, not tended by any staff at all. We even had to prepare the drink by ourselves (just regular iced water). There is a telephone for each table to make a call to the reception. — Subpar service for a Michelin restaurant standard but this could still be the effects of physical distancing to prevent COVID-19 spread to the staff. Fine.

We did not have to wait too long for the food as we were only customers there. The food was good though. Lon crab was excellent and it was one of the best I have ever had. Fried fish was also great - the fish was very fresh, and the frying technique was good. Fried vegetable was so so, but this is not in their recommended items so I will forgive that.

Then we asked for a check. The total price for the food is reasonable, around 1100 Baht for 2 people. There was an item for the use of VIP room for 60 Baht. Although this is not that much amount of money but since we were brought into this room by the waitress, not by our own choice, we decided to ask them anyway.

The staff explained that they thought we made a phone call in order to book for this VIP room, so they brought us there without even asking. We were very surprised by this answer but anyway we could pay them because we did use the room.

Everything should have ended there, until the owner of the restaurant came out, the “grandfather” of the female staff.

He went to our room, knocked the door loudly in a very rude way, pointing his knuckles to the signs on the door implying that “didn’t you see a sign writing here saying that there is a cost of using this VIP room?”

After that he went into street and stood there for a while in a very arrogant way.

The staff tried to explain to us that her grandfather could not talk because he had a tracheostomy tube so he had to knock the door. But hey, don’t they think that we could not understand body language?

And now everything is clear why they put those weird instructions into their menu. They must have had a lot of problems with their customers before because of the grandfather’s attitude.

TLDR: Taste of food is good. Price is reasonable. Service is subpar. And the attitude of the restaurant’s owner ruined our dinner tonight. This restaurant does not deserve a Michelin star due to poor service. Dine at...

food was great, tastes good and fresh! Service can be improved, we sat in a different area where there were no staff and they did not check in on us aside from serving the food. Fish is big and so were the prawns - but also the two priciest items. I feel that they should have warned us about the size portion. Additionally, they did not inform us about extra charges such as the water, ICE and the AC room - though we did not mind but something for others to...
