This is without a doubt the most incredible place I have ever stayed. In this lush and quiet pocket of Si Satchanalai where time stands still and the sun melts behind the ancient temples, Chomprang House is a gem embodying the essence of Thai luxury. We came across this place by chance and it felt like we had discovered the hidden treasure of the region.
To say the service is exceptional would be an understatement, the attention to detail and attentiveness of the staff blew us away, I have never experienced anything like it in any of my travels around the world. Every need was anticipated, we had tea brought to our rooms in the evenings, chic bicycles ready for us with water bottles in the baskets every time we stepped out the door, towels waiting for us poolside before we got there. An absolutely incredible and unique experience.
As a boutique hotel, it holds an air of exclusivity and privacy, making you feel like a special and honoured guest. Every day we were brought afternoon tea with something new to try (dumplings, fresh fruit from the gardens, traditional noodles), on the balcony overlooking the gardens, the river and the Khmer temple ahead. Our views from the room were equally breathtaking and in the afternoons we would sit and watch the sky change to shades of pink and orange. In the evenings we enjoyed delicious, fresh dinners from the restaurant and in the mornings we looked forward to our breakfasts which were made to order with excellent coffee from the cafe.
This gorgeous and tasteful restoration feels like a cross between the pages of Vogue magazine and the discovery of a timeless explorers lodge with unique decorative touches of typewriters, letters about archeological expeditions in the area, and ancient artifacts. The beds are incredibly comfortable and the rooms wonderfully air conditioned. Every element is unique and curated carefully to maintain the ambience of the house. Every single time we walked into the house it took our breath away.
Si Satchanalai itself is an underrated sleepy village which should be on every travellers list. The definition of an off the beaten path treasure, the archeological ruins and surrounding town are pristine, quiet and beautifully immersed in nature. The locals are incredibly friendly and the sights are blissfully peaceful, not overrun by the mass tourism that frequents other areas of Thailand.
An absolute MUST stay and at the top of my list of best hotels...
Read moreNot gonna lie, this place is absolutely stunning. We were so lucky to discover this beautiful café. It was so hidden that we had to drive around asking people for directions! But it was totally worth it—the café was surrounded by a lush tropical garden and featured traditional architecture. The food was so aesthetic, I almost didn’t want to eat it because it was decorated so...
