We visited this Irish Pub on Koh Samui because it had a beautiful pool table. Our plan was simple: have a couple of drinks and enjoy some billiards. The place itself is nice and well-equipped, and at first, we were excited to be there.
However, the service quickly turned unpleasant. My friend does not drink alcohol, and since we were riding scooters later, I only had a couple of soft drinks and eventually one beer over almost two hours. Despite ordering a drink roughly every 40 minutes, the waitress repeatedly pressured us to “drink, drink, drink” — always implying we should order alcohol. Her attitude was extremely unprofessional: unfriendly tone, judgmental looks, and openly gossiping with colleagues in a way that made us feel unwelcome. I have worked in hospitality for years and have never experienced such a disrespectful approach to guests.
We met a friendly group of locals playing at the other pool table, and we ended up joining them for a few games. The bar was far from full — maybe 15 guests in a space for 70–80 — and one pool table was completely unused. Still, after I politely declined another drink (having just finished a beer), the owner approached us and said that if we didn’t order more — specifically alcohol — we had to leave because we were “blocking his business.” He did speak in a calm and polite manner, and I respect that, but the reasoning made no sense given the circumstances.
In the end, the two of us (both foreigners) were told to leave, while the local group we were with was allowed to stay. Being kicked out simply for not consuming enough alcohol — while still ordering drinks and enjoying the venue — is something I cannot support.
A beautiful place ruined by poor service and unreasonable rules. Sadly,...
Read moreOur fave bar in Thailand. It looks like a modern, standard, uninspiring place but we found the service to be fantastic and friendly. The staff chat to the customers. Sport is always on the box and they stream the UK coverage so it is a grade above. There are two free to use pool tables with a winner stays on challenge board for when it is busy. Some of the staff are good pool sharks so watch out! We made loads of friends here because it has a relaxing and interactive feel to it. Great bar and we'll miss it now we're...
Read moreProbably everything you’d expect from a sports bar. I only came to play pool and drink a beer, the tables are okay, the cues are fine too, can find some normal ones. I’m not sure if there’s a food menu but there are many drinks. I was happy to see a choice of ciders which are not too popular in Thailand.
As a woman, I’d like to separately notice the thought of setting up a bathroom with everything you need: pads, q-tips to fix your makeup, spray deodorant etc. Big thanks for that to...
