Marcelo is decent choice for those wishing to spend a few days on Togo's coast.||I have mixed feelings about this area on the edge of Lome. The shoreline is either fancy hotels or slums and serious poverty.||Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. My two floor suite felt luxurious to me, who doesn't normally stay in places like this. The wooden floor wasn't perfect. Sharp to stand on in places where it was uneven. Fixtures in the bathroom not that well maintained. Despite being seemingly nearly empty, they placed me in a suite which faced outwards, outside of the hotel grounds. I would have preferred to face inwards but once I was there, I couldn't be bothered to ask to move.||The swimming pool is massive and was wonderful to have access to in the heat as it was. Would have been nice if they'd placed a few tables there too, instead of just sunbeds. The umbrellas weren't well maintained and were beginning to fall apart in places.||The included breakfast in the restaurant was great. Very varied buffet, options to suit many tastes, good coffee. The rest of the food served in the restaurant certainly did not live up to the prices, which are astronomical for Togo. ||Unfortunately, any meal in this area is a battle between you and the flies. I found this very uncomfortable. A few flies are to be expected in a hot country, but this was like a plague. It was nowhere near this bad anywhere else I've visited Benin, Togo and Ghana. I can only guess that it is this way due to the squalid living conditions in the area around. One day I had a pizza and I was basically stuffing it into my mouth with one hand whilst constantly waving my hand over the remainder. All drinks have to be covered with coasters.||The little cove they've created for swimming is a nice idea. The sewage (or whatever it was floating in the cove at hightide did not make it tempting to swim.||So, if you want a hotel of reasonable quality in this area then you could do worse than Marcelo. But I would suggest that there are many better places for a...

The location is ok but this is my last time here and i won't return. First of all, they force u at the entrance to buy a consomation ticket of 5000 per person. We came so our toddlers can have fun time at the beach. but they only have bounce house and swing set. My main issue was when we came 3 years ago the was a flat space where kids could access the beach and water where the could build c sand castle. Today was not up to expectations as the kids wanted to play in water but there was not flat area with sand and water. Everything was deep filled with huge ricks so very unsafe for kids. If u are an adult and want to swim or sit by u can do so.

The food is expensive . We have been sitting for almost 2h with no foofd ready for us. If u gonna oblige people to buy ur food why not be fast about it?. I am done with hungry kids and can't even get my money back because u order and the food is not there and u paid at the entrance. They know with their bad service people will not wait on them and will leave.

I don't...

Located a bit far from Lomé (according to me) , Marcela Beach is a nice location. Once we got there (weekday) we did not pay any entrance fees and we were nicely welcome by a charming waitress. That’s one thing I like about togolese, their respectful and warm welcome (not all of them so it must be appreciated). As for the product, I did like what I got served and what I saw. Overall it was a nice experience though I was a bit disappointed about not being able to cross the bridge which look very bad for my liking for both my colleague and I but the pizza was nice for 7000 cfa. A room for great improvement is open and it’ll surely happen.

Marcelo beach is a nice place to relax on the seaside with your family. We went there for a lunch on a Sunday, early afternoon, so it was easy to find a table for 9 guests before it got more crowded. The atmosphere was very pleasant. A band was playing various songs from French music to Bob Marley. There is an area where you can swim safely, unlike the main beach of Lomé. The food is not the best you can have in Lomé but still enjoyable with the sea view. Our waitress Augustine was kind and addressed all our requests. However, it can take some time before you get served, so be patient, enjoy the view, walk around and take pictures!

I wasn't a lodger but I enjoyed my time on the beach, the food and drinks were nice too but very pricey if you're on a budget. My favourite part was swimming in the ocean, there are other activities for beach visitors like kayaking and canopy walking. By sundown there was live music at the lounge area which was not bad as all. I didn't notice any lifeguards however on duty at the beach when it got dark, I personally don't think it is safe and would encourage their management to look into that.
