I don’t believe there is an inn here, so I suggested a name change for Google. My review is about the restaurant.
This place knocked it out of the park. Holy moly the food was incredible. That’s the most important thing to me, but the people were also outstanding. It is very easy for me to find at least something to complain about when it comes to dining out, but this place was firing on all cylinders when my wife and I went for our 11 year anniversary. First, let me spend a moment appreciating their attention to detail. I barely mentioned it was our 11 year anniversary when making the reservation on the phone, but when we arrived, they saved the best table in the entire (busy) restaurant for us right in the corner overlooking the ocean, and they put some cute things to decorate for us. These little things mean a lot to me. But let’s move that aside. We put together a four course meal for ourselves. Started with the crab cake and scallop risotto. I’ve had crab cake probably 200 times in my life (almost exclusively in restaurants), and 90-95% of the time, I’m not entirely happy, even in the fancy expensive places. But their’s was impeccable. Cooked just right without any flavor taking over the experience. The scallops were real good too, but there were only two (not complaining just wanted more ;-). Then we had shrimp bisque, which was right on, and we ordered a celery and radish Cesar salad. I was super excited to try something I’ve never had and wanted to appreciate the creativity, but they unfortunately didn’t have any fresh radish to make that version of the salad. They came out from the kitchen to apologize about the misunderstanding (they brought me a regular Cesar salad that I had to send back - well because I was expecting the exciting spin on Cesar), but the explanation made perfect sense and I wasn’t going to let a perfectly fine salad from this place go to waste, so I asked them to bring it back. And boy oh boy that was probably the best Cesar salad I’ve had in my life (coming from someone that grew up in Brooklyn and frequently ate Cesar salads in many many places all over the world). This was top five for sure. And I probably wouldn’t be writing this review is it wasn’t for what happened next. I’ve been eating lobster in the Caribbean for almost 20 years, and I realized this night that I never knew what it truly meant to have lobster in Caribbean. I guess I could have researched it more, but I didn’t know they even had lobsters that big in the tropics. The shell rivaled a huge Maine lobster shell - but was much prettier, obviously, and I got the same amount of meat you would normally get out of a 2.5 - 3 lb Maine lobster. And the taste can compare to the best lobster I’ve ever had in my life. I’ve had lobster many hundreds of times, so I’m reluctant to say it was literally the best, but at the moment, I can only remember two places that would compare, and one of them is a 3 star Michelin restaurant. The lobster must have been caught that day, and the chef cooked them to perfection. One was cooked with a little cheese and cream, and the other with herb and garlic, and gosh I wouldn’t be able to tell you which one I preferred. That was a couple days ago, and I can’t stop thinking of the succulent lobster melting in my mouth with those incredible flavors all coming together in perfect harmony with perfectly textured lobster meat. Nothing overpowered. 10/10 on the lobster. Then the dessert was worth writing about too. My wife wanted passion fruit creme brûlée. I don’t normally choose passion fruit anything because the taste can so easily be overwhelming, but something inside said this place will get it right, plus my wife wanted it anyway so it was happening. And yup you guessed it: they nailed it. I couldn’t stop eating it. Then we devoured the ridiculously good bread pudding.
Thank you to the amazing people for the incredible food and experience we will never forget. Our 11 yrs together was further forged in steel that night (steel being the theme for 11yr anniversaries). Thank you very...
Read moreI recently had my wedding reception at the Seahorse Inn and it honestly did not disappoint. My husband and I first visited Seahorse almost 3 years ago before we were even engaged. We instantly fell in love and said we would have our wedding reception here. Skip to 2018 and that dream came true. I planned this wedding for over a year and Nick, the head chef, was absolutely amazing. Over 100 emails back and forth, he answered every question I had and helped in any way he could trying to make the process as easy as possible. Our guests are still raving about the food from the Seahorse Inn which we knew would be a great hit. We loved it so much the next night we went back and had dinner with a few friends before rushing off to the airport to head to our honeymoon lol
I only have 2 suggestions. Firstly, for some reason after days in Tobago our wedding day happened to be the one unbearably hot day. There is no cross wind upstairs which is where we were seated and also that's where the kitchen is so our guests were miserable so much so that they started heading downstairs before dessert was even served. I'm not sure what could be done, but maybe add more fans? Secondly, I would make sure if you're having a wedding that your planner stays with you or at least make sure the staff there knows the process. I felt it became a little unorganized at the end and we kept having to look for this woman who I believe was in charge trying tell her what would go next. Also, I had a few things I wanted to keep which I did tell my planner but I guess word never got to the staff. Since everyone was escaping the heat downstairs I didn't realized the staff started cleaning upstairs. When I sent my cousin to get the things I wanted, he was told it was already thrown out and they couldn't find it.
Other than those little hiccups though, I think all in all the reception was beautiful and everyone enjoyed themselves which is...
Read moreWe had our diner at the fantastic terrace of this restaurant. It was the our last night on the island after a stay of 46 days. We asked, when we ordered that we would like do take it easy between courses. So far so good. A new young waitress came to our table and we repeated our wish. Every 10 minutes she came to our table, interrupted our conversation, just asking if everything was ok. We asked her not to come to our table so frequently, because we would like to have a conversation without being in interrupted so often. In this restaurant they take away the bottle we ordered, to put it in a cooler somewhere else. We dine in Europe in the best restaurants and we know and where aware that things can be different, on a Island in the Caribbean. But because it was very busy, our glasses where empty for some time but the waitress did not show up then. We explained to her we would like our wine in a cooler at our table. At that moment we also told her that we wanted to order an other bottle to go with our main course. And we would like to take the half full bottle with us because I had to drive. The glasses where still full at that moment she came, poured 2 glasses and put it next to our still full glasses. I explained that this was not the right thing to do, the wine would be warm before we finished our glasses! I also mentioned that her way of serving guests needed an upgrade. After that she came back twice in 20 minutes. At this point I called the head waitress, to asked for a better trained one. What should have been a nice romantic last dinner ended, with my wife in tears and an unpleasant evening. The food was nice but for a expansive restaurant, the service should be...
