Asha's Bake & Shark Ltd — Restaurant in Trinidad

I just left the new Balmain branch. I purchased an alloo pie and shrimps and it was awful. Everything was awful. The alloo tasted processed...like processed mashed potatoes and it wasn't seasoned. The dough was raw. The shrimps were hard, overcooked, sliced in half (I assume to make them appear larger), not sufficiently seasoned and overbreaded. In fact several of my shrimps were just breading...yuck! The wait time wasn't long as I was the only person there but the young lady standing by the condiments fanning the flies and just looking at me while I waited on my meal, made it feel long. I also felt self conscious taking the salad as she was staring while I took out my vegetables. Not my $65 again. I took photos of the meal to post an amazing review on their fb page because of the amazing proximity and clean environment...but the parking isn't great and the food...the main reason I went...

What a wonderful restaurant addition to the ever growing Balmain area. Asha's is organized and well thought out in terms of how the place is designed. They have an extensive selection of food but I had the bake and shark which was awesome!! They even had pre-packaged salad/condiments/dressings (basically all the fixings to dress up your sandwich) in the event you weren't ready to eat it right away. Their cocktail bar was also great!! I had the "Mango Chow Cocktail - Vodka, Mango puree, bandania, blackpepper & cayenne pepper - Deelish!! I was a very happy camper with this drink :-) The staff was very friendly and the ambience and vibe in the place makes it a really nice liming spot. After reading reviews was a little hesitant to go, but I’m glad that I did. I got the fried kingfish and it was good; well seasoned. I went back the next day because I wanted corn soup, but was not happy with it, hence why only 4 stars. Ordered cocktails and they were strong, almost too strong for me. Definitely a place to check out. Clean, quick and offers all the necessary condiments.

July 2024-

In Trinidad again and had to see if it was still good. It was. Food is still fresh and plentiful. Service is a bit slow, had to wait for someone to take order even though no one else was being helped.

They started giving boxes with the condiments to go. So your salad and pineapple all in one box, which is a no for me. I don’t want certain things mixed.

Other than that, no complaints. Oh and no one was available to make drinks the two...
