La Faenza restaurant italien — Restaurant in Djerba Island

I called Faenza Restaurant in Djerba Explore to make sure we could come without a reservation. A man picked up the phone, and I asked until what time the restaurant is open and how many restaurants there are in Djerba Explore Park. He told me there are two restaurants. I specifically asked if we, a family of 8, could come directly to the Italian restaurant Faenza without a reservation. He said, “Marhbé bik” (you are welcome), no reservation needed.

When we arrived, with my grandmother who can barely go up the stairs, we sat at a table. Then a man came and told us the table was reserved for a family of 10. I asked where we could sit, and he asked if we had a reservation. I explained that I had called beforehand, but he said, “No, we can’t give you a table.” I showed him the number I called, and two men (possibly the managers) looked at each other and told me, “We can’t do anything for you.”

Shocked, I asked: “So we go back home?” He simply repeated that he couldn’t do anything for us. I told them I would write about this in a review, and one of them even gave me a thumbs-up (👍) as if to say “go ahead.”

We left disappointed. If I had known from the start that they serve alcohol, I wouldn’t have called at all.

Un vero ristorante italiano dove senti che la direzione capisce la cucina italiana e lo stile di vita italiano. Tutto meraviglioso, dal servizio alla qualità dei piatti. Abbiamo mangiato un paio di pizze e uno gnocchi ed il tutto era all'altezza del luogo che oltre alla qualità della cucina, si trova in un complesso che riprende perfettamente l'architettura locale con molta cura dei dettagli. Non è facile trovare un ristorante di tale qualità in Tunisia. Congratulazioni alla direzione per l'ottimo lavoro e l'attenzione. Lo consiglio vivamente.

A real Italian restaurant where you feel that the management understands Italian cuisine and the Italian lifestyle. Everything was wonderful, from the service to the quality of the dishes. We ate a couple of pizzas and a gnocchi and everything was up to par with the place which, in addition to the quality of the cuisine, is located in a complex that perfectly reflects the local architecture with great attention to detail. It is not easy to find a restaurant of this quality in Tunisia. Congratulations to the management for the excellent work and attention. I highly recommend it.

Un vrai restaurant italien où l'on sent que la direction comprend la cuisine italienne et le mode de vie italien. Tout était merveilleux, du service à la qualité des plats. Nous avons mangé quelques pizzas et un gnocchi et tout était à la hauteur du lieu qui, en plus de la qualité de la cuisine, est situé dans un complexe qui reflète parfaitement l'architecture locale avec une grande attention aux détails. Il n'est pas facile de trouver un restaurant de cette qualité en Tunisie. Félicitations à la direction pour l'excellent travail et l'attention. Je le recommande fortement. We had high hopes knowing that Faenza is supposed to be a pretty fancy restaurant. We weren’t expecting a gourmet meal but at least something somewhat close considering the price point.

We were met with very measly portion sizes, incredibly long wait time between courses, inconsiderate staff and a very bleak vibe.

I would rather go to any other restaurant in Djerba. I recommend Hanout or Fondok.
