Douar Laroussi was the highlight of our day, and a top memory of our weeklong stay in Tunisia. It is a lovely place, and our lunch experience here was wonderful. I was blown away by how cool the Berber huts were on a 45 degC day!
The food was awesome. We had some fresh bread made in a traditional oven, as we walked in. It was served with olive oil they had grown, harvested, and prepared. They had a tapenade accompanying the bread (peppers, garlic, onions).
The second course was fresh salad - cucumbers, tomatoes, dried mint - which too was lovely, and perfect for a hot day.
The third course was brick, served either veggies and egg. It was much nicer - texture and taste - than brick we had earlier on our trip.
The fourth course was freshly prepared couscous, made from wheat they grow on their property! It came with a wonderful sauce.
Final course was mint tea with homemade makloub.

Read moreAuthentic farm to table experience. Owner greeted us upon arrival and shared some information about the farm. Then explained how they created rosemary essence and passed a sample for us to try. Following that we moved a Berber oven to bread making demonstration. Then we were lead inside a large room to enjoy a specially prepared meal. Each course from appetizer to dessert was a tradional food mostly from the farm or area. Even a group of participants were given a special outfit and helped serve the main course. I would highly recommend visiting and enjoying the wonderful...
