Came here after finding this on google maps and checking the reviews, definitely loved it! The man working here so really sweet and lovely he tried his best to speak to us in English despite the language barrier, We did not get a menu and we randomly were getting food, he first gave us an appetizer (like the bread and spicy sauce, they do that in every restaurant in Tunisia) then he brought us a really nice warm soup, then another wrap that was stuffed with eggs inside and then he brought us cous cous, all that for two people costed 68TND ,, I have no complaints, the only things is expect the restaurant to be very old and not very clean specially the toilets, but that wasn’t a problem for us, I loved the randomness and just getting served traditional dishes like that and it was an amazing experience! We wanted to experience camel riding and quad biking in the sahara but no agency were available at that moment for some reason (despite trying to get in touch with them multiple times) he then offered and said a friend of his does that (we were very skeptical at first and thought we might probably get scammed or they might not be professionals) but since we mainly went to douz for the sahara experience and that was our last bet, we went with it, and oh my gosh! Turned out way better!! We only did an hour camel riding in the desert for 40TND per person and quad bike another hour for 100TND ,, as well including a taxi ride back with the price,, checking the prices online this price seemed just fine and far from a scam, specially with the amazing experience we had, the guy who arranged all that was named Imed and he was pretty helpful! i am overall...
Read moreI knew this was a closed menu. The bred and soup were very good. The brik was an interesting concept but fravorless. The real disappointment came with the main dish. ... I highly recommend the owner remove the chicken escalope and realy just focus on vegetables. It's very hard to cook chicken and lamb so he should avoid at all cost. Unfortunately I believe the owner has a great opportunity to build his business up if he could improve the menu, the seating and the washroom ... Lastly despite the nice personality of the owner, we ended up literally not finishing our meal because he didn't stop talking not for a second. We were tired from a very long day of driving and I didn't have the energy to make long conversation. He did try to plug in a tour guide which I kindly declined. The meal was 22 dinars per person which is definitely high for the type of food but again I prefer to support local business but the owner should talk less and really focus on...
Read moreIf you're in Douz, don't miss this hidden gem! At first glance, the exterior may not catch your eye, but step inside, and you'll discover a spacious, family-owned restaurant that’s clean and welcoming. The service here is exceptional and delivered with a smile and genuine kindness.
The food is simply delicious. The soup, brik, and lamb mechoui are standout dishes that truly capture the flavors of the region. Prices are very reasonable, making it a great value for the quality and portions.
One suggestion for the owner: investing in menus would be helpful so that patrons can easily see the prices and don't have to guess what's they're in to.
Overall, this place is a must-visit in Douz. Don’t judge it by the façade; once inside, you’ll be glad you gave it a chance.
I Highly...
