Kanaat Lokantasi is a network of Canteen style cafes around Istanbul and is an absolutely terrific place to try homemade Turkish meals. Turkish cuisine has so much more to offer than your average street kebab and burek. A busy Istanbul visitor from overseas usually gets a very brief account of a Turkish cuisine as a rule. This is the place to dig a little deeper. It has both menus and an open kitchen with the meals already made so one can point to the thing he likes and the waiter will quickly bring it to your table. Here you can try popular Turkish soups and many other authentic Turkish dishes that are cooked in Turkish homes and not necessarily available in other restaurants. The quality is superb, most visitors are local and it is great to see the pleasure on their faces as they having their meals. We had sac kavurma with rice,stuffed cold cabbage leaves,Çerkes tavuğu,tomato salad,kazandibi and ice cream. They were ALL very tasty.The price we paid was very reasonable for what we ate. 600,-₺/ea.
