Yashlyk — Restaurant in Ashgabat City

Was there in March 2025 two times for lunch a weekday. We were the (almost) only clients in the empty restaurant, and we don't speak a single word of the local language so things felt very awkward at first. Yet we received a very nice welcome by embarrassed but extremely adorable and smiling employees who did all they could to accommodate us and make us feel at ease despite funny misunderstanding and hesitations. Once placed in a side alcove for more intimacy (a very kind attention), we resorted to haphazardly choosing our meals by pointing pictures in the menu and when our dishes came, they were absolutely delicious and well served. It was a very pleasant moment and we came back a few days later and enjoyed it once more. Probably somewhat kitsch by western standard with a pretty fussy decoration and silly musical clips showing on TV, this is nevertheless a very genuine local and extremely recommendable place!
