I went with my family to dine in last night at the Al Warqa branch and had a horrible experience. I always enjoyed Salkara's food, from the one close to the Kochi airport to the one in Qusais and Media City. But the Warqa branch was a disappointment. Restaurants are a hospitality business, and the hospitality of the employees there was terrible. It started from the beginning when an employee brought the salad plate to our table, and the way he placed it on the table led to a vegetable falling on the table, then serving the food that was stale (beef dry fry) and giving us food which was heated in a microwave that was prepared in the afternoon.
As an employee, it should be their responsibility to be proactive in recommending the available fresh food. Before ordering, the person who took the order said that most items were unavailable. So, the things we asked, he said it was there, and we went ahead and ordered them. We ordered manchow soup and nadan chicken soup initially, but the manchow soup was sad, as per my wife and my dad. Thankfully, the chicken nadan soup was decent. Then we ordered ghee rice, beef curry, chicken biryani and four parottas. He could have recommended that the biriyani and ghee rice were prepared for the afternoon lunch so we could have ordered an alternate. But he chose to take what we asked for and brought us the microwaved biriyani and ghee rice and a terrible beef curry. In most places, parottas come faster, but it came after 10 to 12 minutes because that was the only freshly made item in what we asked for.
When we told them the beef dry fry was stale, they took it back and didn't show remorse or regret and later quickly went inside and brought another beef item to show that they were apologetic, but to be true, they were not which we could see through the way they brought it to us.
Ultimately, we ordered nadan chai, which was a good thing to serve. The nadan soup and the nadan chai were the only things I enjoyed, and as a family, we were very disappointed with the rest of the food and the service. Our biggest disappointment was that we travelled from Silicon Oasis to Warqa to have this horrible food and...

Read moreIâve had enough of Salkara Restaurant in Al Warqa. Their inconsistency is beyond frustrating. Never have I ever received the same dish with the same taste twice.
Today, I ordered Beef Varattiyathu and Beef Cheenachatty, both of which are supposed to have distinct consistenciesâone dry and the other with minimal gravy. But what did I get? Just regular Beef Roast and Beef Curry instead. I specifically asked the cashier while ordering and even reconfirmed when picking up my takeaway to ensure the dishes were prepared as expected. Yet, they still managed to disappoint.
After waiting nearly 20 minutes for my food, I reached home only to realize they had once again messed up my order. This isnât the first time theyâve done this. Their excuses are laughableâone day, itâs âour regular chef is in Karama,â another time, âheâs on vacation.â Today, they simply said, âMaybe we packed the wrong food by mistake.â Seriously?
If a dish isnât available or if they canât prepare it correctly, they should inform the customer instead of just packing whatever they feel like. This level of service is unacceptable, and I wonât be ordering...
