I am a big mandi fan and I have tasted authentic mandi in many places across Saudi, UAE, Oman, Bahrain, and Qatar. With that experience, I can clearly say this restaurant is "not serving real mandi or buhari rice."
We ordered 1 mutton mandi, 2 half chicken mandi, and extra buhari rice. While the meat was decent, the rice was very bad – definitely not mandi rice. The buhari rice also tasted fake. The portion of rice was also very small compared to what is typically served in the market. When I asked the waiter, he argued that “all Arabs eat this rice,” which is completely wrong.
Even the tomato chutney (satha) was just vinegar water. Nothing here felt authentic. To make it worse, the waiter was more interested in suggestive selling to increase the bill rather than ensuring customer satisfaction.
We had also ordered a mango juice for my daughter, but it was not served during our meal. Even after we finished dining and were waiting outside, it only came around 25 minutes later, served in a takeaway cup. Unfortunately, the juice was very watery, not sweet, and had no proper taste. By that time, it was too late to complain or return it, and it felt like a complete waste of time and money.
I believe the staff should focus more on respecting and caring for customers. During my visit, I felt the waiter was not very attentive and seemed disappointed when I didn’t go along with his suggestions. A more customer-friendly approach with patience and understanding would have made the experience much better. Management should review my suggestions and consider proper training for the chef to achieve authentic taste in the dishes. Additionally, the waiters should clearly understand their job responsibilities, especially showing genuine interest in serving and respecting customers. I am happy to discuss my feedback further.
This place might be okay for Indian food, but for Arabic or Afghan cuisine, it is a waste of...
Read moreWe went to the restaurant around 8:30pm. There was a queue so we didn’t mind waiting for 10minutes for the table. We heard alot of good things about this restaurant and were very excited. We placed our order A grill khofar fish, shrimp szn noodles without egg and a vegetable soup. I was really hungry. We waited almost like 15-20mins then received the complimentary soup and salad. We almost follow up With my soup for 5-6 times with 2different staff and they kept telling us its coming. I received the fish but that wasnt the one we ordered after 45mins of wait. Received the noodles unfortunately with egg, i am not allergic to eggs but i dont like eggs in my noodles but i was so hungry i had to accept it, I couldn’t wait for another 30mins. However i was still waiting for my soup and i spoke to the third staff and i was told it hasn’t been placed. I was soo disappointed. I can understand there might be some rush and they forgot but I followed up more then 6-7times so what the staffs were doing that they didnt even bothered to double check with my order. So here i can say that i had a very bad experience when it comes to service. The restaurant was busy but that shouldn’t be excuse for disappointing a guest with complete mess order. The food was good but doesnt worth the hype and service sucks. The staffs should focus more on the quests who are on their table rather then sitting the guest who are waiting for the table. I was offered 15aed off on the bill for messing up my experience. I appreciate that but i guess if the service was great then i wouldn’t mind paying extra then having a bad experience and receiving 15aed complimentary. We went to Khorfakan all the way from Dubai to try your restaurant but it wasnt...
Read moreAs we wrapped up our day trip in Khorfakkan, UAE, the quest for the perfect dinner spot led us to this intriguing restaurant, conveniently located on the main road. Parking was readily available, albeit paid, as the manager kindly reminded us.
The cleanliness of the place was immediately noticeable. We opted for an Arabian majlis-style seating, which, while clean, had an interesting quirk: the side screens were not fixed! This meant anyone could lift them and peek into our section, adding an unexpected element of surprise to our dining experience. Moreover, the thin divide meant our conversations weren't exactly private – a bit of an eavesdropper's paradise!
The menu was a delightful mix of Chinese, Indian, and Arabic cuisines, though the seafood section was intriguingly priced based on size, leaving us guessing. Our order included a variety of dishes: Kerala parotta that was fluffy and soft, a nicely peppered beef fry that seemed a tad underheated, crunchy and generously portioned chicken drumsticks, and Schezwan mixed fried noodles that were surprisingly non-spicy. A complimentary pepper corn soup served before our main course was a bland but welcome gesture.
Just when we thought the experience couldn't get more interesting, the waiter offered complimentary Sultan tea before bringing the bill. However, upon bill presentation, he backtracked, citing a 15-minute preparation time for the tea. Quite the anticlimactic end to an otherwise amusing meal!
In summary, if you find yourself in Khorfakkan, this restaurant is worth a try, especially if you're game for a dining experience with its own set of quirks and surprises. Just be prepared for a few 'Oh no' moments...
